verneforchat replied. to nidhi bedi, i am sure you werent looking forward to half baked cures from pre teens or our squabbles.
Rest assured, we need to evaluate your situation responsibly, because i presume you are on the breast feeding stage, so most of the recommendations dont stand straight with you.
If you want complete home remedies, i am sorry i have nothing new to offer to you, if you are looking for responsible , working cures, i recommend you wait untill you wean off your baby.
Untill then you can continue with home remedies and good skin hygiene, with plenty sensible nutrition.
If you are taking any medications, please read the leaflet of them to ensure they arent causing any pigmentation ( hormones do that ).
I dont recommend any sunblocks as of right now, if you are on breastfeeding status, and if you arent, any good dermat will give you a prescription for a sunblock for your skin. remember no two sunblocks are similar, and neither are two skins, so its always better to buy and use things that are meant for YOU and not for the entire world.
Cures posted on these board, are tried on individual people, and not on everyone, no one has tested them for efficasy, leave alone efficasy, no one has tested them for side effects.
Important rule in medicine, a doctor should always know the side effects of things he does or prescribes, otherwise he isnt a doctor, thats why we spend agonizing hours and days learning the side effects of medicines and misdiagnosis. I am sure you dont want any harm from a person who was too careless or too lazy to study more about your condition.
verneforchat replied. I hope it was a normal labour, c-section and other ways can make you stress out and overall impact the health for a few days.
How long has it been since you gave birth?
Looks to me, hormonal ups and downs have taken their toll on your health and skin. Dont worry about it.
Just follow your regular skin cleaning regime, use plenty of multivitamins, good diet ( recommended since you would be breast feeding your baby ). Drinks loads of water, but ofcourse not too much. Try being stress free, and optimistic, and definitely happy.
Use loads os moisturiser, since its winter.
For now, just concentrate on taking care of your son, and follow simple skin regimes, i am sure you wont have the time to do something else.
Later on, you could try home remedies, or consult a professional dermat and get your skin lightened. But do this after you have weaned off your son off breastfeeding.
Rest assured, once your stress levels and hormones bounce back to normal, it wont be so bad.
saniya replied. dear nidhi,
fist of all, congratulations for the baby!
coming to ur skin, well this kind of thing usually happens after delivery to most women.make a mask of malai(milk cream)+a few drops of lemon juice+a pinch of turmeric.apply on ur skin in the evening dailyand let it stay for around 20-30 minutes and then wash it off.minimise sun exposure.it's best to avoid the sun completely but if exposre is necessary, try to remain as much covered up as possible and apply ample sunblock to the exposed parts.next,u need to concentrate on ur diet.i do not recommend anything since u have just gievn birth and there might be aspecific diet u should follow.i am too young and unexperienced in the matter of pregnancy so i cannot recommend anything.ask ur doctor to give u a suitable diet and stick to it.also, exercise will improve ur skin as well as body so start exercising.one remedy for glowing skin is warm water+1 tbsp honey+juice of half a lemon.u shud drink this every morning 1st thing on waking up.do ask ur doctor before trying this out.maybe it's not appropriate after delivery..im not sure but better be safe than sorry, dontcha agree?

you cant use sunscreen without a prescription and u never should, becoz there are 100s out there, with some carcinogens too, always refer to a doc when one is pregnant or on breastfeeding, all drugs dont work good on those.

but i dont agree that she needs some now, not when she is breatsfeeding.
And different skins need different sunblocks, therefore i recommend professional presription, i was never against sunblocks, i was against unprescribed sunblocks.
And yes anyone can tell me that sunblock is useful, but not many can tell that it is to be used responsibly. And that sets us different from the rest.

Name: verneforchat Subject: important update
Recently, there has been increased attention to the possibility of adverse health effects associated with the synthetic compounds in most sunscreens. [5] A study published in April 1992, entitled " Could sunscreens increase melanoma risk?" reported that the greatest increase in melanoma has occurred in those regions where sunscreen use is most prevalent.[4] Although one might believe that this effect is due to sunscreens being used more in regions where people are more exposed to UV light, this is not what is claimed by this study: Melanome incidence correlates strongly with the use of chemical sunscreens independently of the actual UV exposure.[5]
In a May 2006 report, " Nanomaterials, Sunscreens and Cosmetics: Small Ingredients, Big Risks" , Friends of the Earth claimed that several types of nanoparticles (like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) can be harmful to human tissue. Currently, there is no policy requiring mandatory product labelling on products that use these compounds.
Some individuals can have mild to moderate allergic reactions to certain ingredients in sunscreen, particularly the chemical benzophenone, which is also known as phenyl ketone, diphenyl ketone, or benzoylbenzene. It is not clear how much of benzophenone is absorbed into the bloodstream, but trace amounts can be found in urinalysis after use.
My Take on this : I advocate sunblocks, but use it less than what we used to before. When you can skip it, skip it.
I skip sunblocks too, most of the times. Its not because i am wary of them , i find them a hindrance to indian skin, but yes, that doesnt mean you shouldnt use sunblock. YOu Have to use it in summer or wherever there is too much rays, and if you cant, just simply avoid being in the sun.
Secondly, PABA has links to being a carcinogen, and alot of sunblocks out in the market and pharmacy have PABA, and therefore i said, take a professional's prescription when you go for sunblock.
If you are living in the USA< and its snowing out there or fogged out, skip sunblock on those days. I say, skip sunblock till you wean off your baby, use it later on.

bored of your childish babble, but i might as well have fun.
you are not away for geographical demogaphy of earth, and therefore i shall laugh at your phrases of where these is sunlight, there are rays. HAHAHA to you.
I lived in two different zones, i used sunblock alot , even in winters where i lived before, and here i use sunblock in summer.
You havent answered my question about how to use sunblock when its foggy and snowy, please elaborate on that, my young lil expert.
Thank you for telling me what the ozone layer does, its enlightenment for me! I hope you score full marks on your 8th grade exams.
I am guessing i spent the last 4 years studying animals or perhaps vegetation?? What do you think we study in medical school? Effects of ozone on human body for 4 years?
Let me get cheesy, have you ever held a brain in your hand? have you squeezed out pus from cystic acne?
Have you heard of lupus, and have you seen congenital syphillis? Google them, they are wonderful medical terms that you get to see in MEDICAL SCHOOL only, which if you are lucky enough, you might get to attend.
british system translates to better education?
I said i knew about the ozone layer when i was 10, you need specs and reading classes my dear.
Earlier you wrote that she needs to use sunblock, but conveniently forgot that she needs a professional prescription, convenient eh?
If you are using sunblock, and if you are in the british " education" system, i am sure you must have missed some classes on sunblock when you say that a person's age, sex, region and skin conditions doesnt matter while choosing sunblock.
And i didnt see any precautions or warnings where you advised lemon, please enlighten me.
You are YOUNG and your age does matter when you pilfer with people's health while you prescribe half baked cures.
Tell me saniya, apart from these squabbles, do you really think you can take the responsibility of these cures and whatever the outcome of them are? mostly the bad ones?
I am a med student and i spend time on this board, for pure practice, and evaluatory reasons, there are loads who have benefitted from me. Please dont think otherwise, i am a med student, and i dont need to go to heights to prove it, rest assured, i know WAY more than you. You cant seriously think you can compete with me, can you? I mean you are some pre teen, i am a DOCTOR, think sensibly before you argue with me and put down replies to my replies. I am sure when you are slightly bit grown up, you actually be embarassed about what you wrote here against me.
Going on your statement, i studied medicine for 5 years, and this is what i get?!?!?! Ok this sounds funny, really does.
You studied like 2-3 books on home remedies? I study 2-3 books on each and every aspect of human body, i can suggest some if you want, and even tell you to download from.
Since you are pre-teen, i recommend easy reading, like grey's anatomy, And if you feel adventurous, try Guyton's Human Physiology, will make all your doubts vanish.
And please stop worrying about the ozone, if you love the ozone and want to preserve it, stop using aerosols and dont leave the fridge open.

hahaha..how silly can u get??dwhere there is sunlight, there r rays.unless ur living in a place where there is no day and only night, sunblock is absolutely necessary!!ur the one who is being ignorant, not me!
omg!!u just said u dont need sunblock and ur saying that u have usedmore than i ever will?who r u trying to confuse?urself?
i know that even if there is ozonelayer, sunblock is necessary but u casually said that she doesnt need sunblock so i emphasised that since the ozone is being destroyed, the use of sunblock should become more frequent and serious.the ozone layer shields the earth from the rays of the sun.if u don't believe me,search it for urself.it's not just the human body u need to know about to help others with skin.u need to know the factors which influence the human body as well!and for urkind information,i do not read newspapers or magazines and blindlypost that stuff here.i post only what i myself and others have tried and have found to be effective and safe.unlike u,i never bragged that i am a skin expert.i just tellpeople what i know and believe me,many peopleon this board have found my advicemuch more useful and economical than going to the derm.
for ur kind info,i do not use creams likelajme n stuff.i do not use any products except sunblock.and the one i use is very safe.
i say the truth.i do not have much info about pregnancy and imnot ashamed to let others know about it.im here to help others and not brag about my knowledge.i do have ample info about the human body.even i study and im doing the british system which is quite tough.
oh!so u knew ALL about pregnancy when u were only 10???i bet u didnt even know how a lady gets pregnant at that age!!
honey DOES cleanse the body.it'snot rubbish.i never prescribed any sunblock.all i said was to use one.it'supto the lady which brand she wishes to use.but obviouslyit has to be recommended by dermatologists.i use sebamed and it's awesome.
sunblock doesnt depend on any of these things.everyone needs a sunblock nomatter what region, sex, age orskin conditions they have.but it should be safe.
stop calling me a saquabble, careless or lazy.i know very well about what i advise.like, whenever i adviselemon,i also mention the precautions.
i never called u names then what is ur problem???????????????????i cans wear too but im not that cheap to insult people only because i am angry!!stopaccusingmeof being young.i have knowledge about skin care andmy age doesntmatter.i have taken pains to study about different natural remedies and this is what i get??????normal people usually appreciate this but i think ur nothing but jealous...even im a busy person and i typelengthy replies describing the effects and precautions and every possible helpful thing to solve problemsof other people and this is what i get??

PLEASE DONT DISPLAY YOUR IGNORANCE HERE.
Where i live, there is no sun! how ignorant can you be? I am living in the northern hemisphere, and there is no sun, leave alone clouds, its all fogged up, its snowy and rainy, YOU THINK I NEED A SUNBLOCK?
Secondly, i dont know where the lady lives, so i told her sunblock is not needed everywhere, all the times, especially if she is in the US.
Trust me, i have used more sunblock than you ever will.
The ozone layer is really throttled in over eastern europe, you think you could do something about it? Oh by the way, its not the destruction of ozone layer that brings on the uv-ua-ub rays, its just natural sunlight, so ozone or no ozone, you need sunblock madam.
Oh by the way,. update, the ozone layer hole is reducing, so i guess you would say we need less sunblock then?
Dont explain me what sun does to the skin, for god sake i received excellent marks in dermatology, unlike you, you keeps reading information in the newspapers, that doesnt really make you a expert.
Face mask every does harm the skin, let it breathe, i dont find it effective everyday, so there. Just ebcause YOU find it effective doesnt mean the world will follow suit, stop being unreasonable.
About sunblocks not being used for pregnant woman, i am talking about real sunblocks available in the pharmacy, not your trashy lakme and other such creams. They contain Paba , zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and other such ingredients, which are the most effective sunblocks, because they are virtual blocks. But from what i know, their efficasy and side effects are not known on pregnant woman, or women who are breastfeeding, therefore I DONT Recommend.
Like you said before, you have no idea about pregnancy, and after it, you have no idea about the human body, or have no idea about medicines, so dont lecture me on what little knowledge you have. I had that much knowledge when i was 10.
Honey doesnt cleanse the body, what rubbish! It contains mostly sugar with some meagre amounts of vitamins, very meagre.
Please dont prescribe any sunblocks or any medicines for that matter to pregnant or breastfeeding ladies, i know you mean no harm, but that is what you are doing exactly.
Sunblock, depends on region, season, sex, age and skin conditions.
It really pains me to see people with half baked knowledge come on the boards and lecture others about being polite and social and blah blah, and dont take 2 seconds or 2 ounces of their brain power to ACTUALLY research the cures that they so flamboyantly write here.

verne this is for u...ualways go on about how ignorantpeoplerletme show u how ignorant U r!!first ofall, sunblock is necessary 365 days a year regardlessof the season.clouds block only 10%of the sun rays and this is the mistake most people make.they think they can go widout sunblock during winterswhich is WRONG.day by day, pollution is increasing due to which the ozone layer which shields the earth from the sun rays is getting destroyed.do u still think sunblock isnt necessary?sun is the skin's greatest enemy.it causespremature ageing of the skin, wrinkles, spots and skin cancer.using a sunblockminimises these side effects though it's best to totally avoid the sun.
next, using a face mask daily won'tdo any harm since i myself did that and found it to be very effective.
as for thelemon juice, warm water n honeydrink, honey cleanses the body and even lightens the skin.so adding it to lemon and consuming it has far more benefits than lemon alone.

may seem private, but its related to your overall health, Why was a c-section done on you?
As of now, i recommended no sun blocks, and since its winter, you dont need much. We dont know what is out there in the market, therefore i dont recommend sunblocks without a prescription.
Packs will help, i recommend the usage of any home remedic mask not daily, maybe 1 in 2 or 3 days, but not daily, you need to give your skin a break.
What medications are you on currently?
FOr glowing skin, vit c is a great remedy, hence the lemon juice and water and honey work well, but you can simply use a lemon instead of honey and warm water, if you are watching your diet.
let me know when you had your c-section, why you had it, and what medications you are on currently.
