Eyeliner
In order to create a natural, smudgy eyeliner, line your eyes heavily with black eyeliner before you go to bed. In the morning wash your face as normal-a perfectly smudged line will remain.

DIY eyebrows
Want to shape your eyebrows yourself? Try this technique: Take a make-up brush or pen and hold it diagonally from the end of your nose (covering the nostril) and line it up with your iris. The end of the brush should touch the centre of your mouth. This is where your arch should start.

Eyebrows
Once you’ve had a professional shape, it will be easier to pluck stray hairs as they grow back. Check your brows closely every few days so it won’t be such a scary task. Never shape from the top of the brow- just tidy above.

Mascara rules
- Always remove mascara before bed to prevent lashes breaking.
- Black is best for brunettes, dark brown is good for blondes.
- Addicted to heated eyelash curling wands? Use after applying mascara. But if you use a normal eyelash curler, apply mascara before curling lashes
- If you’re looking for extra length, wiggle the brush at the base of your lashes then pull it up and out to the tips.
- Never pump the mascara brush in and out of the tube; air in the tube will dry out your mascara.

Never pluck the top line of your eyebrows as it can change their fundamental shape. All plucking should be done from below the brow and at either end.

When applying eye makeup be sure to follow the following steps:
- Determine your objective (what colour, shape and intensity do you wish to achieve)
- Prepare the brows (shape and colour)
- Apply eye liner. Application is made easier by holding the outer corner fo the eye with the 3rd finger, without pulling creating a smooth surface.
- Apply eye shadow. Begin with a base shade, then contour along the crease of the eye with darker shades to create more dimension to your eyes.
- Apply mascara - apply only one coat for the lower eye lashes and at least one for the upper lashes.

Eyelash curlers
To get the most out of your eyelash curler, start from the roots of your lashes, so the curl starts from the very base. Work the curler up the lengths of your lashes at three or four intervals. To boost the curl, blast your eyelash curler with the hairdryer before use.

Simple Lines
You can achieve the easiest eye look in a few simple moves. Line your inner rim with black pencil, then soften the look with a sweep of dark shadow just below the lashline at the outer corner using a fine, angled brush. Or for a softer effect, use a pencil and shadow in a softer colour such as plum or green. Lastly, brush the upper lid with a neutral shade and apply a single coat of mascara.

Bold and beautiful
To give the eyes a bold look, line the upper and lower lashes in a Smokey dark brown colour and then smudge the colour over the top lid and up into the crease, and again along the lower lid. Finish with lashings of black mascara.

Sexy Eyes
For sexy eyes, use eyeliner to blacken the bottom rims, then lines along the upper lashes, concentrating on the outer corners and smudging the liner outwards to elongate the eyes. Try brushing a shimmery beige shadow all over the lids and under the lower lashes, and dab some under the arches of the eyebrows. Lastly, apply lashings of black mascara.

Eyes forward
To bring deep set eyes forward blend a pale shadow over the entire lid up to the brow bone. Steer clear of dark colours and keep brows light and well plucked to lift the eye area.

Flash Lashes
Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler before you apply mascara. This will open up the eye and give the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes!

Mascara hygiene
Mascara should be replaced every three months as it is a haven for bacteria and can quickly become clumpy.

Highlight eyes
Dark brown eye shadow blended into the outer corners of the eyelid, can soften edges and highlight the eyes.

Powder to skin
Be careful not to apply too much loose powder to skin around the eyes as it can emphasise fine lines.

Daytime shadows
Cream shadows give a shiny, glossy look and the colour doesn't last long and will need lots of re-touching. Cream powder shadows give a more natural look and are more suitable for daytime use.

Stay sharp
Always check that your eye pencil is sharp before usage. This ensures that the colour only goes on where it should.

Keep a fine line
Apply eyeliner in a soft fine line, as close to your lash as possible.

Eye make-up should be applied according to the shape of your eye. Work out what shape your eyes are so you can enhance them accordingly.

Runaway Mascara
To tackle running mascara try applying it to your upper lash only or use a waterproof mascara on both lashes. Above all, don't rub your eyes, it can damage delicate eye tissue and guarantees racoon eyes.

Alternative gel
Eyebrow gel is a great alternative to a heavy pencil for day make-up. Use light feathery strokes to brush and set the brow in place.

Wet or dry?
Wet/dry shadow can be applied with a wet or dry eyeshadow brush. Applied dry, the effect is sheer; applied wet, it's more intense - and longer-lasting

Eyeshadow sticks and pencils give lids a light, shimmery look rather than dense colour. They're designed to be drawn on, but be careful that you don't \" drag\" the delicate skin on the eyelid when applying.

Absorbent colour
Eye cremes give rich colour, but because they're quickly absorbed, make sure that you prep your lid first with foundation and powder.

Glamour eyes
For an ultra-glam alternative when blending eye shadow, mix in a little glitter in the form of a loose sparkle or a shimmery shadow.

Puff away
Applying an eye mask of sliced cucmber or tea bags to tired, sore eyes can help soothe and reduce puffiness.

Crow away
The skin around the eyes produces no natural oil. Make eye cream part of your daily routine to help prevent tiny lines or crows feet that appear around the eyes.

Cool It
When the weather is hot, keep your eye pencils in the fridge. It's a great way to stop them melting.
