Due Date Club October 2008:vitamins

Is anybody started taking prenatal supplements apart from Folic acid.
Please let me know as my doctor advised me to take these supplements after completion of 12 weeks.
I' m due in mid Oct.

no need of suppliments in 3rd month

Hi Anu,

even i have completed my 13 weeks.
and in last visit i asked doctor for some suppliments then she said ur baby is doing good so it' s necessary after 4 th month only, right now only folic acid is sufficient.

what i know is that folic acid reduces chances of miscarriage! Also it cuts down some kind of abnormality in baby ..something to do with spinal ..i dont know exactly you can do google search. All i know is folic acid is very very imp and it reduces chances of miscarriage i am sure about this and anyways you wil be taking folic acid on doc recommtn so there wont be any chances to excess intake

priya is right here in india doc rcmd folic acid for thru out pregnancy, after 4th motnh they start with other vit like iron , cal etc, but along with folic acid

but i am simply worried to stop folic acid!!!is that ok to stop and take prenatal only and additionly they r saying excess of folic acid may lead miscarriage..........wat to beleive and wat to not?

taking prenatals

Hi Anu,
I am in US too and I have been taking the prenatal tablet every night since the time I came to know abt my pregnancy. This tablet has iron, calcium , folic acid and some minerals. My first pregnancy in India, I took only folic acid till 3 months and then started with others around the middle of the 4rth month.

me taking prenatal apart from folic acid.in india,my doc said to take thout pregnancy but hr(US)they said to stop and take prenatal vitamins.i am doing wat docs r saying!stoped folicacid at 7 weeks itself and thrafter i took prenatal
