Diet and Exercise:Prenatal in Pune

I often see people asking about prenatal classes so I am posting this. My husband and I were lucky to have attended Positively Pregnant in Pune' s Jehangir Apollo Hospital. My sister-in-law and her hubby had been posted in Pune and had attended the same 6 years back so she recommended them. It was great. I joined at 14 weeks and met about 20 couples there. As we are new here and have no family here, this was good because now we have many friends who have had or are going to have a baby!. I was lucky to have joined early so I was able to use all the information I learnt, the exercises, breathing, nutrition etc! But I did not deliver in Pune as I had to go to my mothers home in Ahmedabad. Even though I had learnt about painless labour I was so confident that I used all the breathing patterns in my labour and had a lovely healthy baby. Even my doc was surprised and pleased to see how well I managed my labour! My husband also attended and when he met all the other dads there he too found it interesting. He asked to be with me in labour and at the delivery and argued with the doc that since he had gone for classes he knew everything! She let him be with me and he was able to see the baby be born, he had tears in his eyes, he was so happy. I' m breastfeeding well and we were well prepared for baycare etc too. I used to think what will classes teach, we can read books and get info on the internet, but this was real and important for me. There was an american couple and one Indian lady who had gone for such classes in UK in her 1st delivery and they were also impressed, said this was very good. Am only saying this becasue they had seen such classes abroad and here we had all the latest info in a very Indian setting so that was a good combo.

diet during pregnancy
Maintaining a healthy diet during pregnancy is very important.

During this time, your body needs additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

In fact, you may need 350–500 extra calories each day during the second and third trimesters.

A diet lacking in key nutrients may negatively affect the baby’s development.
