Waiting to try:endometriosis
2004-02-24
Name: rinki

I am having regular And normal periods from the age of 12. Now i am 30. I came to US 4 years ago. I got severe pelvic pain in 2000 jan and Dr. diagnose this as endometriosis and done surgery thru leproscopy after that Dr gave me lupron Injections for 6 months to stop my periods and said that my chances of getting pregnent is only 50% and then i tried to get pregnent. And i got pregnent in may 2001 and delivered a baby girl in mar 2002. My delivery was normal. Now my baby is 15 months old and i went to DR. again And she said that i should go for another pregnancy right now because my uterus is not in bad shape as it was earlier before surgery and endometrosis has no cure but to stop periods and natural way of stopping my periods is to get pregnant again but i asked for some time because my baby is too small. So she said that i should take birth control pills for 6 months and then try to get pregnent otherwise it will be too late because endometriosis will come back again and again. And the birth control i have to take for 21 days then throw the last 7 tablets and start with the new pack that way i won't get my periods so my condition of uterus will improve and i will get pregnent with less efforts.
so my question is
1. Is anybody suffering with the same situation? If yes what hers dr. suggestion is?
2. I am perfectly normal and i haven't had pain after that. But acc to dr The solution to my problem is to stop period either naturally(by getting pregnent) or forcefully either by taking birth control by skipping the last 7 tablets or by lupron injection if the contion is worse.
3. Dr is saying after my 2nd pregnency she will keep me without periods by taking birth control that way. But this doesn't sound normal because we are forcefully stopping the natural thing. And there must be some side effects also. So i am worried like what is right for me?
4. Moreover i don't know that if i goes with the dr way for 6 months then try to get pregnant then what is the chances and for how long we will try.
So please share your exp if anybody else is in similar sitution?

Hi Rinki,
See another Dr. and get his/her opinion, won't hurt. Sounds complicated though.

I have heard/read endometritis can pose some difficulties to concieve. If you plan in future to get pregnant then it would be difficult already you have had one leproscopy, don't forget this. It will be expensive on your body later.

Your baby is 15 months and you can try if you are mentally prepared otherwise wait until you think you can take this responsibility. Taking pills and holding periods for a while may not hurt but again you need a serious second opinion.
