This is Radha (refer to my reply to Jothi on 1 Sep 2009). Yesterday we all (fil, mil, husband, myself and my two sons) returned from Tirumala after our family gundu. This is my fourth tonsure, all of which have happened since my marriage fifteen years ago. I am 41 now. My hair was just past my midback. My mil' s hair had lot of white in it and was just below her shoulders. I felt as happy as ever to feel the blade on my head and see the 5 year black growth tumble down grazing my cheeks and leaving a nice greyish round gundu head. My m-i-l (now around 65), after her tonsure, looks almost as good as she looked after her tonsure 15 years ago. She is very happy that I am continuing their tradition of family tonsure happily. My sons (14 and 12) are also happy to get fresh gundus and demanded to get it done every year.

My next tonsure will probably be in 2016. However, we have decided to visit Tirumala every summer and get the gents tonsured. Both my husband and the kids are very happy about the decision. Since we do not cut women' s hair outside temples, I am planning to offer a few strands during those visits. ram replied. hi frinds
i had gone for tonsture for three times in my life
first 2headshaves in tirupati and 3 mundanam in mopidevi
1 one in child hood and i dont know 2 at age 10 this time i was not agree even my parents bet me at last i become tirupatigundu
3 time at the age of 20 i.e, 13-8-2011 in mopidevi i am glamorus in my school and college for my hair so it is some what difficult to go mundanam i ask my mom for mundanam in may she surprised and ask really ? then i said yes she say some ospucious day we will go i was with out hair cut for 4 months and with out shave for 2 months i am forcing my mom she say really then i say yes after so many days she said ok then at that day get up early take headbath for last time start our journey around 7 am we reach temple around 7 30 am take a token made head wet at ground flour and gore for tonsture at 1 flour then barber said go dowm and made head wet properly so i went down my mom saw she think i ran out of fear and ask me i said no after making head wet i goto barber he started shaving blade sound scrap i heard at the centre of the head he is shaving i feel cool air and enjoying the breaze as blade dancing i fell happy but as hair falls my heart was breaking as i am glomorus hair in class my head was half shaved and shave my beard half only then half moustuc then my hpper part of head is half shaven half shaven beara and mostuc then he said turn back and shave remaning part of the head he cleaned the hair now i was totally bald at there i saw my gundu in mirror i shocked then i went down my mom saw have a smile and said nunati gundu (smooth head) after darshna we went home at 10 am in the evening i apply sandle to gundu it was so cool i enjoyed my gundu though i shave my beard after gundu i doesnt go for hair cut i the month of april again i will go for gundu with out hair cut
during my headshave i am only the gundu at that time.

Now i am 24 years old.
My g.f is of 23 years old..we are planning our marriage in 2013.
But her parents are planning for may 2012.. As it is love arranged we have nothing to say.
Anyway, last year they(my g.f family)
went to tirumala.
All of them including my cute lover shaved their heads.
Her father,mother,
sister,brother in law(bava) and their son,my dear lover get tonsured in tirumala.
It was on 26/03/2010.
I met her on 30/3/2010..i saw her in full gundu and touched her scalp with affection.i told her don' t wear a cap.
She did it..now her hair grown almost upto her neck below.
There are 2 more years for our marriage to be held on may 2013.
In this gap her jada will come again.
After 3years of our marriage we both give our thalaneelaalu in tirumala..that is very special to us.

Its a nice to have a complete tonsure, feels very calm. Smooth gundu puts everybody very fresh and happy, as what you and family members feels.

Convey my regards to your parents about their co-operation and continuing your tradition of gundu.

Small question, why you say that your next gundu would be in 2016? Go for the gundu, every year or once in two years. I am keeping complete gundu for last so many years with small nothch(Shikhaand round portion of small hair, we call it as ghera) on top of the head, as per custom of ours. Its nice, to move around in public, I am not wearing any head gear (cap or scarf) on my head. Move freely around in the different offices. I feel proud, that people look at me, when I move along.
