Due Date Club April 2004:my baby

Hi all,

Yesterday I had my second trimester scan and we saw our baby moving hands & legs. Doc said baby is very active. As our baby cooperated well we got some nice shots too :-)

I had a placenta praevia prob detected in my first trim but by gods grace the placenta is moved up and my doc said things are all looking normal. He also promised me that as we wanted to go for natural birth he will be very stern about not giving me any medicine if possible. It was a great relief as u all know here in US most docs encourage and pressure u to take epidurel.

I feel so happy today and hoping things will go same throughout the trimesters.

Hi! buddies:
I fully agree with you Mansi...for docs it is a very normal affair...they must be delivering endless number of babies...but for us this is the first time...so they should be a bit more careful and concerned with us..

Today morning me & my hubby (thank god he is very cooperatibve & caring too..)
were discussing about our discussion board here and how we freely discuss and share our ideas over here...it not only enlightens us but also makes us alert... so we can ask the docs a volley ofquestions...which they are not bothered to answer...
My doc is 70 years old...very senior in his fraternity ...so he thinks pregnancy to be just as typing on the keyboard while we work...little does he appreciate that we are becoming moms for the first time we are completely new...body is behaving differently...overall a complete new and unknown experience..

So, I think he should guide us...actually do a handholding kind of an exercise for us ...teach us how to sit in office during work, how to get up from sleep and get off from bed etc...but he has never told me all this...I am very much concerned...whether he will encourage for a natural chilbirth or not...

Moreover I dont know about any CB classes here...so im confussed what to do...now that we are educated and we surf the net..read good books and exactly know or try to know whats hapeing inside us...they dont appreciate the fact...they would rather prefer us to be ignorant so that we are not inquisitive..

For the last 15 days or so im having terrible stiffness/pain on my wrists and I read its because the bones expand during pregnancy and the carpel tunnel in the write which connects the fingers hurts...if i ask my doc, hes going to give some sort of shit funda and try to keep me quiet ...may be suggest Vit E or B6...god knows..So iam kinda worried...should I take a second opinion from another senior doc or should i continue..

Im sure you friends will give me some hope and guide me..

Tll then...Take care and Njoy!
Cheers to our good health!
~Aditi~

Hi Mansi:
good to know about your baby...well... its really a very different feeling when the doc says the livers, kidney, heart are all functioning well and this is the head, right hand, left hand etc...oh my god i felt so funny to think that there is another human life inside me and Im nurturing it...its absolutely a divine feeling...Im sure you must have also felt that...
My gynac did not tell me anything about GT test etc...I guess docs in india are damn lazy and not as interactive and cooperative as docs in US...please tell me what shud I do???

Till then take care and have a healthy time ahead..
Love

Ladies:

As u said the moment when u see your baby in that monitor brings such a feeling which is very hard to express. Lets hope everything will go fine for all of us.

Aditi, my doc havent yet recommend GT test for me. May be he will give me the details on my next appointment in Jan. Its hard to find a very cooperative docs these days, especially indian docs.

I dont know whether u all agree with me or not but I feel our docs take delivery a very normal procedure and think the doubts we ask them are not worth answering. Though they know more about our life style and diet for me we went for a grp who is happy to be questioned. My hubby loves to know every details of what I am going through so its a great relief for him too when our doc help him clear his doubts.

I know some docs in Kerala who are very helpful and supportive. The hospital my sis delivered her baby girl had a really good bunch of nurses also.

I think when u are aware of whats happening there is nothing wrong in asking your doc the questions you have. Try to build up a friendly relationship with your doc and i think it will really help you to communicate with her better.

take care

My next appt is on 30th of december. Should we request for GT test. My doctor didn't say any thing abt it.

No yaar we wanted to go for the surprise so didnt ask. But it was such a great feeling to see the fully shaped baby moving and raising hands & feet. I still find it hard to believe thats the image of a person inside me :-)

When is your next appointment? I am sorry I think I forgot, where in US are you? Have you decided about bringing someone to help you out after delivery?

Jenn,

I too felt the same way but we later decided not to know. Didnt u had your 20th week scan yet? For me I dont think we will get a chance to see the baby again before birth. My lab tech told me that as everything is looking ok my doc wont be recommending another if no new issue arise.
