I have a little baby boy who is a little over 2 months old. He takes a mixture of breast and bottle feed with around 6-7 feeds in a day.I feed him on demand but his feeding schedule is very irregular. If he feels sleepy while feeding then he drinks little and asks for his next feed after 2 hrs. If he is awake and active then he asks for his next feed after arnd 3-4 hrs.
I will now be rejoining office soon and will be bound by time.
I would like to know if one should set a feeding schedule for the baby. Some of friends try and wake a sleepy baby so that he drinks enuff milk and asks for his next feed at regular intervals.
Have any of u also done the same.? I am confused as to what to do.
Thanks in advance. g replied. Hi, I hope you and baby are well. Baby is only 2 mths old, it can take several weeks for him to settle into a regular feeding pattern. Apparently it takes longer to digest formula then breast milk. This may be why your baby seems to drink a small amount sometimes and needs feeding sooner. If you feed baby when he needs to, and till HE is satisfied everything should be OK. When baby is older a schedule will come naturally. About another concern of yours, I have been reading that many women feel they are not producing enough milk, when in fact they are! Don't give up hope. Is there any kind of midwife or nursing association in your area who could talk to you about your concerns?
