Hi,

Every community has a different set of functions during pregnancy. Maybe we could share some details and experiences.

I had my first function on Sunday. Its to be done within the first 3 months. I was dressed up in new white clothes and the food prepared was all white including the dessert! our home was decorated with white flowers and white cushion covers were on the sofas. There was a white bed spread on our bed as well :)

We have a similar one within the 5th month where everything will be green! and finally before going to my mom' s place there will be the last function in the 7th or 8th month!

Anyone have similar functions or any such customs?

The customs you mentioned sound fun.. it definitely adds a spark of excitement!! I too am in the US, so no customs.. a baby shower in the 7th month. Keep us posted on the 5th month green celebrations

Hi Bhav,
I am based out of Bangalore. My in-laws stay with us and my parents stay closeby. I guess that´ s the main reason why all these customs are being followed :) also since this is my first baby.
Will keep you posted on the 5-month green thingie :)

Nice to know about the function...i have never heard about these kinds of functions ..i mean white green etc !!

I am in US so nothing special here...in our custom they have one function during the end of pregnancy. I think i will never have that...being here...but for my last pregnancy i was given a baby shower from of office friend!

Yeah, I am a konkani and we have these customs, which are kinda cute. But these are all done only in the first pregnancy. In the second we dont have any functions (i think).

According to my experience with Relicord, I will never recommend any one to go with Relicord. It' s being 1.5 years now, I am paying the EMIs, but I had enough trouble with them.

yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Avoid Beena Jaysingh. We' ve got seriously burnt up by Dr. Beena Jaysingh of Apollo Bellandur. Dr Beena is highly unprofessional and always behind money. She is incompetent and doesn' t understand patient problems and needs. Whenever we went to her for my wife' s pregnancy she wrote all the available tests without even asking and thinking.
