Name: Prajna
Dear Srinidhi, Girish, Preeti, Kajal, Nandini and all
I hope you all remember me (Peculiar Requirement, 27-9-2010).
I have joined the granite company of my future in-laws as Special Officer on 2nd of this month. As instructed by my future m-i-l, I attended the first day with their ' style' - sleeveless blouse, saree with navel showing, lipstick, long ear hangings and all. My hair has grown to about two inches of length. It is a bit unruly but I can comb it to an acceptable shape which my folks said goes well with the ' mod' dress. I got a warm welcome by the staff. The GM, an elderly man, is a really nice person. I have already started learning the technical aspects. I will be on leave without pay (as per company rules) from 25th Feb to 12th March for marriage, etc.
The GM' s PA, Sharmila, a lady in her mid 30' s, regularly sports a short boy cut and tonsures every five years. And every summer she gets a crew cut. It is her family' s choice and nothing to do with any company requirement. The other lady in the company, 23 year old receptionist by name Vidya is having a normal midback length hair and is one who never cuts her hair.
On 31st January, my colleagues of the old company gave me a send off in a 5 star hotel. They tried their best to break my ' no alcohol' status but in vain. It will be broken ceremonially by my m-i-l two days after my marriage, one of the events which I am eagerly looking forward to. I have made up my mind to accept the ways of my new family with open arms.
On March 2nd morning I will have my first boycut by which time my hair may grow by another half inch. Any query as to what style I will have is met with giggles by the three ladies (my m-i-l Shanta, married s-i-l Sowmya and unmarried s-i-l Deepa) telling me ' wait and see' .
