Dear Anu and Hetal

Anu, I have a baby girl and she is having her vaccines next week. do i need to ask my doctor for no pain injections or doctor keeps these vaccines ?
are these available in US ? wat i mean to ask is do i need to purchase them from pharmacy ?

Hetal, i heard most babies get fever and they don't drink milk properly after the vaccinations. is it true ? what all i can do to prevent fever,pain etc.
can i give medications from now itself to prevent fever and crying.

please let me know
i know this might be silly question to all of you but i am first time mom and i am worried.generally my husband is present during doc visits but this time i am alone. so i am bit tensed because i can't see her crying. in first couple vacne times, babies do get fever, some get loose motions, some exp loss of apetite,,it varies,,,but it doesnt mean either that your baby will get one !
it dpends on baby curent health conditns and as to how his body was able to accpt new substnces that will help him in future to develop its immune..
its like when you push a kid at first, he happens to feel the jerk thn onwards, he gets used to it! and some kids at every push, feels the jerk and somehow they learn to balnce themselves,,so you see it varies...
when you are makng immune stronger with these vacnnes,,for such a lil body,,its a way something new and a push to increase the immune strength,,so it reacts
its normal
as i said earlier,,the fver should not last more than 48hours, and every 4-6hours,,give your child whatever medicine your dr has asked you to give,,and by then if fever continues,,your child needs to be seen by your dr.
same goes with apetite decrease,,expect it for say 3-4days,,and thn baby is after food ! if longer thn this, make it a concern to your dr..
it is not req to give medicines before hand,,these are to b given only IF the symptms appear,,OR else,,its not req.
also, ne fever that is above 100 required attn and otc/dr medicne has to be given and baby needs an attn of yours for another say 6-8hours,,if the fever is below 100, after vacnes,,mostly medicines are not required..and child himself is able to cope with it.so allow your child for that,,see if he has fever,,if he does not have,,dont give unncsry doses of medicines,,,its not going to do nething good,,nor it will severe the situation !
hope this suffices,,about painless medications,,it dpends on which state you are,,mostly in north side of US, they keep these and it also dpends on insurance you are covered with. ask your dr before hand about it,,so that if even hospital does not have it,,they can order one,,however,,most drs in US, have not opted for these kind of alternatives because fever and pain related to injections are pretty common problems and babies are expected to bear it ! or let me say pass thru it...

I got these injections in Delhi,thats where we r. But i think something . similar must b available in US too. u can check it wid ur doctor on phone before ur planned visit for vaccination.I think Hetal willb helpful to u for this
