Milestones:Precocious child

Hi all,

I find my 1 yr old daughter to be a precocious child. I find that she is able to understand and do so many things which a 1 year old would not normally do. If somebody could help me out on how to develop her in a more useful way.

Dear Divya,
Most of us parents think our child is the smartest one on the block, I am sure your child is truly smart though, as long as a mother is nurturing him or her, allowing him to be a child, to discover his surroundings, to watch him try new things, you are doing everything right. This is how children learn.

It's not easy for us parents to evaluate our own children, also Grandparents and other close relatives tend to be not the best of judges.

What I suggest you do it read to your child as much as possible, let him play with blocks, play in the sand, water...

Sing songs to him.

At this age, he needs to experience all the \";little\"; things first, later when he is preschool aged would be the best time to have him evaluated for giftedness.

Just enjoy your baby and know you will be his first and best teacher, let him explore the world around him, use all vocabulary...speak in a way to keep his attention.

Best of wishes,
Kareena

I am the mother of two children, both of whom began reading and writing at the age of 3 and now, the are 7 and 9 and are 3 levels ahead of their peers.

hello jayashree
dont get afraid and dont loose hopes, your son is absolutely fine, and give him the proper tuition and avoid more playing periods of his, and you should teach him at home when you will get free time.... - praglabh [View Message]
