Health Concerns:Too Worried

Hi

I am a mother of a 15 month old and 6 weeks pregnant( due Apr '06).First delivery was through c-section.Many of my relatives are scaring me that another c-section with a such small gap is risky. My doc didn't say anything regarding this matter.
I would like to know the risks that I have and the precautions I should take. Also would be glad to hear from someone who has had the same experience.

Thanks
-PG

dear pg,
you are terrified with certain thoughts and advise, which is absolutely wrong.

There is no risk with your pregnancy at all. If all was done well during C-section you could get pregnant as early as 8 weeks post operation and carry baby without trouble.
You could deliver baby vaginally provided your previous C-section was not due to small pelvis size and it was either baby was over the normal size, had some abnormal fetal heart rate during labor, slow progress during labor, failure to progress after induction, prolapsed cord, fetal malpresentation.

As long as your OB is comfortable you can deliver second baby vaginally as early as 2 years gap between two deliveries which means you can get pregnant in or around 15th month of first baby deliver vaginally.

If you get pregnant before completion of one year of first C-section baby then some OBs prefer elected C-section but there is no threat at all.

The risk of hemorrage is 1% and is common for mothers who delivered previous baby vaginally or C-section.

I think you don't want to listen negative guidance and also those friends/relatives put you in dilema. Listen to professionals and most importantly clarify doubts with your OB.
