Other day when we were at the hospital we got to see a newborn baby which was weighing more than 10 pounds.I heard asian average is 6pounds and my friends' babies were weighing around 6pounds.My doc thinks my baby will be small.Am going to have fetal growth scan.My question is it possible to find out the weight of the baby in U/S?

Yes, you can know the weight of the baby in U/S. My Radiologist always says weight, height, growth and other things about baby. Last time when I was in 31 weeks my baby was 1.6 KG. (She should be around 1.5KG at that time.) So if you eat well your baby will be gain more in this last month. If banana suits you can try that, you can drink two glasses of milk daily. In India also some babies are born whose weight is around 8 to 9 pounds. So as per my thinking it is not necessary that Indian babies are low in weight.

Ya baby birth weight can def br found.In ur next scan ask the Radiologist to tell the weight.If the baby's r full term they wont' weight less than 6 lbs for us.So don't worry about ur baby being small just take care to eat healthy as last weeks baby's do pick up weight faster dipti replied. Yes Kavitha, U/S can definitely predict the appox. weight of the baby. Just like U/S predicts the age of the fetus also. The final weight of the baby ultimately depends upon the family background, but most Indian average I have seen here is 7+ lbs. My daughter was 7lbs 4oz and boys are expected to be bigger.
