I had a HPT done on Sunday (Sept 09, 07) since my periods were due on Sept 3-5...It showed negative and I have still not got my periods..i am getting confused as to how the facts should be interpreted..Please let me know if I could be tested positive inspite of the negative results from the test??
Am feeling lost and am not able to devote my full concentration at work..

Hi all

I visited the doc and she took the same test (as in HPT) and declared negative. She was asking me if I would like to wait or if I should be given tablets to get the periods!!
Then she also recommended an ultrasound that confirmed negative pregnancy. Now she has told me to test for thyroid deficiency.
I dont know what is happening and I am thoroughly confused. I havent got my periods yet and this has never happened in 10 years that I had a missed period.
I am almost lost. Dont know what to do..

Please let me know if anybody else also has had the same problem..

hi kala,
how long are u on TTC?? stress is said to play a havoc on hormones and at times delay periods....so plz be calm ..i can understand how u feel even i had the same thing last mnth
but eventually i got my periods...
one word of caution pls donot take any medication gvn by the doc untill a full dignosis has been made and a +ve or -ve result has been determined...
it has been seen as time it takes 2 to 3 weeks to determine the preg ...so b calm and patient

Hi all

Hi all,

I took another HPT on 13th it showed negative. I also met the doc on Sunday - 16th. Even her test indicated negative results, but I have not got my periods yet. The doc has told me to come again on Sat - 22nd Sep 07. I am really confused/depressed and so lost. I dont know what the results might be.

Please give me some suggestions. Is there any positive ray of hope?

don´ t stress

HPT´ s can commonly give false negatives, but rarely give a false positive. And the tests the doctors do are much the same as the commercially avaialable tests, so keep some hope.
Stress levels can affect you period, so if you´ re not pregnant, this could be the cause of being ´ late´ . Try to relax, it will help you no matter what the outcome of the next doctors visit.
