Dear Friends,

Please bear with this slightly long email .. it is an outpouring of emotions controlled for a whole 9 months.

We always knew that we were in the best hands of two doctors in Bangalore … and Archie’s advice / suggestions made sure that the 9 months journey was safe and enjoyable throughout.

Right through, the baby’s growth was accelerated (and as parents, we too are on the broader side and so it wasn’t a surprise at all). The Fluid levels did swing over 4 months … from being closer to the lower level to being closer to the higher level (swung between 9cms to 24cms). We were monitored very closely …. Weekly scans, Dopplers and a strict but enjoyable vegetarian diet. My routine also included a walk of 20-30mnts daily in the morning till the last few weeks when the fluid level was close to the high mark and was advised rest. We took two vacational breaks during this journey – one was to a jungle lodge and the other a pilgrim center.

Two more things that guided us throughout – we used to spend 15mnts each day on “Indiaparenting”, we have gone through every message till date. And before entering each month, we used to look-up to ‘What to expect when you are expecting’ for the particular month. And the time spent was worth it, believe me.

At the end of 32 weeks given the accelerated growth and fluid levels, the doctors hinted that we may have to accept a C-Section. We had no problems as it long as it was risk-averse / risk-free. We agreed that we will monitor closely and take a final call at the end of 37th week. Started getting contractions on 9th night. It is new to me since it is my first pregnancy and we visited our doctor on the 10th. We scheduled a C-Section the same day since the baby weighed 3.5Kgs and all parameters suggested a matured baby. Arpitha is red-rose and was born at 3pm, 10th Jan 2007.

The journey was truly made simple and enjoyable … thanks to the support from my family (Archie included, she is a part of my family) and off-course all moms participating in the board.
