Name: mumm Iam in my 30th week of first preg. and i note my nipple has become rough and appears broken and i could feel some black surface is getting deposited around arola.Is it normal or it can be an infection.I don't have any problem like pain or irritation.Only the appearance makes me worry so that it should not be an infection which can prevent me from nursing in future.

These changes are expected in advanced stage of pregnancy, 28-32 weeks. The hormonal adjustments of progesterone cause this. You are slightly deficient in Progesterone.
Ayurveda offers a simple remedy.
Massage the breast and nipple, with 1/2 tsp of Phal Ghrut, veru light pressure. Phal Ghrut 100 gram bottle, good quality costs around 120/- Rs and is available throughout india. Taking same in 1/2 cup milk in warm condition will also achieve similar result. Phal Ghrut for a pregnant mom is like a water bottle for a trekker.

This is one common observation for many pregnant women at your gestation.
Yes they may look like some cracking gone, erupted or encrusted type. Mainly due to leaking of colostrum.

Actually, you should clean them everyday and apply some cream or oil. Otherwise, after pregnancy, when you will start feeding baby, you will have to go through lot of pain due to dry skin there. Also, I have seen few woman getting blood due to dryness.
