Name: Prajna
Saturday (20th) we - my parents, myself and sis - were again in Tirumala for my second tonsure. I had about three fourth inch of hair on the morning of 20th. Only I was to be tonsured. This time we all went to Kalyanakatta, took a ticket for me and waited in the queue in the women' s shaving area. My number was with a gent barber only. With short hair, it was a very quick thing. Water, massage, shave and cleanup - may be it took about 3 minutes. Again the feeling of getting tonsured was very good. After darshan we are back in Bangalore.
On Monday I went to office without covering. Since everyone knew that I would tonsure again, not many raised their eyebrows. It was as if nothing had changed.
But for me and my folks, especially Pranati, my second tonsure has given immense joy. While mom and dad caress my grey bald head often with affection, Pranati like last time cannot leave me alone whenever she is around. Either her hand or her eyes or both are on my smooth, grey, bald head. She seriously said today Akka, you look so beautiful like this, that why dont you stay bald?
Pranati (who is a BCom and is employed in a Bank) will get married not earlier than another 2 years. So I suggested a tonsure for her in coming March along with mine after my marriage. This time she happily agreed. Mom said that she would also join and get tonsured. So a fortnight after my marriage all in my parental family will be bald.
My mom said that now on I am free to get my hair cut anywhere to any length but warned me not to use razor on my head except in religious places. I hope I will be able to heed her words.
Now I hope to get about two and half inches of hair before marriage. I do not know with that length what type of boycut is possible for the reception. My prospective mil giggled and said Leave it to me. I will take care. I hope that she will not get a punk cut for me.
