Hi archie,
One of my friend delivered a baby girl about 5 weeks ago.It was a full term delivary and everything was ok but when baby was born she was only 5.2lb.and she gained around 25lb weight in the pregnany time.I just want to ask you why that baby is so short to term. What is the reason of it.
I have completed 22 weeks now and my friends say that my tummy doesn't look like 5 months pg.or some time i have to tell peoples that i am expecting. Is there any concern?
On my last visit i gained 4lb in one month but now i having Glucose test in this month so i am following diet.
But archie after seeing her baby i am so upset.Pl. can u tell me what are the reason for this.
Thanks.

Hi Archie,
Thanks for the reply.Yeah its true that all the pregnancies are not same and we cann't compare to each other.
As my last scan everything was ok and perfect so i don;t think to be bother for it.
I just want to ask u by this message that can we know before delivary that baby is underweight or normal weight.
I am not dieting but having low carb diet.I have GD in my 1st pg.so what r the chances now???
Thanks Archie..

ritu,
if you had GD you have double risk for the same in this pregnancy but not necessarily you will have it because each pregnancy in same person is different as well.
I have seen cases with GD in first but in subsequent pregnancies.

good to keep low carb, but don't avoid them at all.

ritu,
your friend has delivered an underweight baby which is one in millions of cases. Do you want to ignore other millions of cases who have delivered normal size weight baby at the full term over your friends case. This is a biased way of looking at case. Trust me if that was someone else with this concern you would suggest it's less likely to be the general and it's more of individual result.

you should get ultrasound done to know if the baby is growing on target to put your mind at peace.

weight gain not necessarily be the way to judge fetus weight so don't get alarmed by that and no need to be on dieting while pregnant.
