Sleeping:Sleepless child

Hi all,
I want ur help and suggestions. My baby boy is 5 months old. he does'nt sleeps during the day time. He wakes up at 7 o'clock in the morning, and he will hv a 10 minutes nap when i will be feeding him. Because of his sleeplessness he will become cranky at evening. He will start crying, and it will be very difficult to soothe him. He ates solid foods 2 times , morning and night. I breast feed him during night and day. I tried a lot of methods to make him sleep, like rocking, singing, massaging, etc. but he won't sleep at all,HHe is a hyper active child. During night time he wokes up thrice(he goes to bed at 10'0 clock)i feed him and some timses he will turn around and will start playing.HE won;t cry during night time. I an staying alone here and i hv to do all household work. End of the day i feel tired. As i stay overseas,I can't keep a maid (which will be costlier)and hv to do all work .
Will somebody help me to solve this problem?Waiting for ur reply

D.G,
Even I still do that for my son. (who BTW is 18 months old). I think kids like security of having parents around. I know you may have other things to do while he is sleeping but think about this that if your child doesn't get enough sleep, he/she will be cracky for rest of the day and it also affects their eating and playing. So if you have to sleep next to him, do so. He is only 5 months old. :) Enjoy his and yours sleep time. Both of you will be fresh when you wake up.

Good luck!

Dear D.G.
My son was same as your 5 month old boy. He would not sleep at all during day time and by evening he was fussy and wouldn't eat anything. At the end We tried Indian cradle for him. And it worked for us. He slept like babies should. When ever he woke up, I would rock the cradle till he falls sleep again. That way he got couple of naps during day time.

Good Luck!

hi dj,
i really feel sad for u. but it's not even healthy for your baby to sleep this less. i'm sure you must have tried a lot of things to put him to sleep. all i can suggest is may be if you can take him out for a walk. or after giving your baby bath - try to make a very peaceful environment and may be you can leave him in his crib. and let him sleep on his own. he might cry for a while, but eventually will sleep. i hope this works for u.

HiShwetha and Shital,
Thanks for ur suggestions. I took him for walking, and then i gave him cereal, after that a warm bath. So night he sleeps quite well. But still its very difficult to make him sleep during day time. I hv to try for 2hrs to make him sleep for 1 hr. How ever now he sleeps for 1 hr, if i lie down with him. I don't know how long it will work. Any way thanks for ur valuable suggetions.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
