Health Concerns:Small caverix mouth

Hi Archie,
I am in 20th week. This is my first pregnancy. I had 2nd u/s few days before. Baby is fit 'n' fine. I saw the baby moving and sucking the thumb and the heart pumping. Heart bit rate is 144.
I have some times a small pain 6-7 times in a day. My gynac told me this is because, the opening / mouth of the caverix (ie. the sac) is little small. Usually its 3.5cms, mine is 3cms. She had given me some tabs and asked me to visit after 5-6 days and visit earlier if the problem increases. She told me that this happens sometime for some womens.

Is it severe? How does this happens? What are the sideeffects? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? I am little worried.

Please please please reply.

Dear Pallavi,
I would not be worried until your cervix length is gone down the 2.5 cms.
You need to take enough rest and keep me updated with the progress after treatment.
Yes for some the cervix stards to get short anytime after 20th week but don't progress as it would otherwise in or after week 38. Therefore risk can not be weighted until one is monitored constantly (twice a month) and seen that cervix is not getting short as the gestation if progressing.

YOu getting worried is not a solution rather it adds more complication therefore don't get worried and continue treatment, you are likely to stary around 3 cms.

You are absolutely right. Gyanc told me the same thing. I am adviced a bed rest and checking twice a month ie. after each 15 months. Gyanc was telling something if this goes still small, stiches are required something what is this?
Right now she said 3cms is ok..

i would have told if it affects baby.
as long as your cervix is not getting shorter day by day and not opening don't worry.
Your baby is well cushioned. still no adventures!

But is there anything to worry? Does baby get hurt or any sideeffects because of small caverix??
Because of the tabs given, the pain is stopped now. I'll be visiting gynac on saturday. Meanwhile can u tell me does this problem affect baby in any way??
