I have been reading this message board since i was pregnant. Now my baby is 17 months old. When he was 8-9 months he started having dry skin on his elbows and cheeks. His pediatrician here in US said that it is not eczema. But he still priscribed hydrocortisone. We went to India when he was 12 months old and were back in 5 weeks. After coming from India the dry patches started increasing and now his new pediatrician(we moved to Austin-Texas a month back)says that he has chronic eczema. She has prescribed Triamcinolone Acetinide Cream 0.1%. and a syrup Hydroxyzine. Is it ok for him to eat eggs? Do u'll know of any other things which might aggrevate eczema? Is it ok to put clothes other than cotton? Also I use drift to wash his clothes. Is it ok? Any reply will be appreciated. ck replied. I think your child has dry skin. Eczema will make the child scratch the part. Your child doesn't do that, so it is just dry skin. Do not use any soap on the child. Use besan, green gram flour for body wash and see if it helps. Use the oatmeal moisturizer like aveeno for body. See if it helps.

It is okay for kids above 1 yr to have eggs, both white and yellow part. Use only cotton for your child(even in winter), it is good on the dry skin. Dreft is recommended until the child is 2 yrs old. I'm going to switch to regular laundry detergent now.
