Infertility Solutions:US traveling to India for IVF
2012-12-21
Name: Catalina Mayo

I am from the US, IVF here is very expensive about 15,000 dollars. So my husband and I are planning a trip to India for IVF since there is will be about 4,000 dollars. I have been in contact with Dr. Malpani (Mumbai) and Dr. Gupta (New Dehli). I am still really confused who to go with and what I will need to do to prepare for IVF. Dr. Gupta would like for me to travel there one time prior to my IVF trip to conduct some tests. I am still trying to get more information from Dr. Malipani right now. I have had a Tubal Ligation years ago and a reversal is out of the question so IVF is our only option. I currently have 3 children my husband doesn' t have any. But has been raising my children as his own. We would really like to have a child together. This whole research process for IVF is so confusing and trying to make the right choice is even harder. I just need to know if anyone has any advice about the right doctor in India for IVF. Or if there is anyone else that has flew from the US to India for IVF. If so how was it? what was the process like? did you have to go there more than once, like for tests? how long did you end up having to stay during IVF? All responses are welcomed!! Thank you for reading!

So how did you go with your Indian experience? I do hope all went well. I personally wanted to go to India for IVF but decided against it after considering the costs. In Australia I paid $1500 per cycle as it is heavily funded by the govt however even as an overseas patient you would pay apprx $4000 Aus. Atleast in Aust Doctors have ethics and guidelines.

Hi,
I think you should get in touch SCI Healthcare at New Delhi. I had a great experience there. I got it in a first try only and with my experience i would suggest you to go with SCI only, Dr. Shivani was supportive as well as her team.
you can get in touch with me in case you need any other information.

Dear Catalina,

Dan is right, don' t go for small clinics as they charge less but their success rate is not good. You will loose our money and time too.

Me too going Dr Firoja Pareekh at Jaslok Mumai,in january. Though their charges are high but they have a good success rate.

Around 2.5 Lacs($5000) per cycle.

Regards,
LA

Well when I suggested to chose a clinic rather than an hospital it was not for the success rate but because in case of complication during the procedure hospital will have all the equipment to face the issue that a clinic may not have. In this way it is more safe.

Dear Catalina - I have seen few doctor in Delhi and Mumbai - from my experience : I would recommend you to try : Dr. Parikh at Jaslok hospital and Dr. Brinda Kalro at Kokilaben Ambani hospital - both in Mumbai - Dr Kalro had worked in the USA for long, she takes time with patients. Dr Parikh is one of the first in Mumbai she has seen a lots of cases - her practice is crowded. Call or email them to discuss the procedure - they both will accept you send scan copies of reports and will guide you. I am still in he process of doing IVF ... good luck to you. As well I would recommend you to do your procedure in an hospital not a small clinic -

Hi! We went for IVF with Dr Namita at Kamla Devi Hospital at Lucknow India. We got all the tests done here and sent the reports by mail, then we went for IVF just once at the appointed time. We stayed there for about 25 days. We spent about 3500 dollars for IVF including drugs. Now Molly is 2 months pregnant.
