Sleeping:Controlled Crying to Sleep

Name: Sajel Patel

My husbhand and I started controll crying our 1 year old girl to sleep for the last 10 nights and it seems to be working as she does not wake up in the middle of the night now.

I concern is that I live with my Mother In Law and she says comments like \";Your killing that baby by making her cry herself to sleep\";.

This makes me very made and angry cause she our child and we are trying to enforce a good sleep routine. My husband who is the main carer for our girl feels let down and upset that he's mum is saying these sort of things.

My MIL is very old (75) and I would like to know how to deal with her. How to we explain what we are doing to correct. Is there anywhere in Gujarati that I can give her to read so that she can see that what we are doing is not wrong.

She doesn't seem to believe us.

HELP..!!!!!

Subject:  Cry it out method

Hi Sajel,
I had the same problem when my mother in law was living with us. So I tried different approach. Instead of trying cry out method, we opted for No Cry solution. It required lot of patience, but now my 2 yrs. old daughter is doing better. We are still in the process. I followed No Cry Sleep Solution by Alizabeth Pantely. You could get that book from the library and try it out. It might work and the bonus there isn't any crying involved.

Hope this helps.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
