my baby turned one year last week, am trying to wean from then. has anybody else started doing it? how far r u? share ur experiences and ideas. Mom to be replied. My son turned 1 year last month. He didnt take any formula from the beginning. He was only taking breast milk. He didnt take whole milk too. So I was worried too. But I started weaning him after his first birthday. Initially I fed him only for naps and bed time. Then I stopped for naptimes. Now even for bedtime, I am not giving him. Sometimes at night, he may wake up and only then I give. Slowly, that will be stopped too. He has started taking whole milk but he doesn't drink more than 2 or 3 ounces. But I give him other calcium foods like yogurt and cheese. IF they start speaking and grow a little older, weaning will be even more difficult. They will remember for a long time. Its best to wean now, thats my opinion. Shikha replied. I am not trying to wean her from breast feed as she do not take the other milk properly. I bf my elder one till he was 1 yr and 3mths. I think I will continue to feed her for another 6 mths at least.
