my son is 3 and a half months.he now sleeps through the night and wakes up once for a feed. during the day he takes around 3 naps but the problem is that he always cries to sleep and because of this it is very diff to put him to sleep. he never sleeps on his own and even if i try to put him to sleep in the bed itself and not in the lap he cries very loudly.

Hi, My daughter has the same problem. Even her eyes are drooping she will keep on crying. Earlier I was also doing the same thing putting her in lap, rocking her etc. etc. and she used to yell like anything trying to free herself although she wanted to sleep.

Now I don't do anything likethat, when I notice that she is tired and would like to sleep I wrap her in a blanket put her on the bed and put a heavy bedsheet on her lower portion only. (The bedsheet prevents her from moving her legs). Switch on the AC and hide from her eyes though I am looking at her she cannot see us. It takes her 5-6 minutes to go in sleep on her own. This is working very good with us. If she cries in the process ofcourse I go and pick her up. The solution is don't force her to sleep, earlier I used to get very angry that though she is sleepy but doesn't know how to sleep (close her eyes). Now I leave her on her own on the bed and keep a hidden eye on her. Sometimes try giving them a little milk, sometimes she sleeps on the milk or try a little water if you don't want to give her milk.

Hope this helps.....Take Care...Neetu

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
