hi,

i am living in very orthodox south indian family and we are 3 daughter in laws who are livng under strict mil .

she is very dominant and even our husbands ae controlled by her as we have no father in law.

eldest dil is amala 31 years ,next is shailaja 27 yrs and i am youngest 24 yrs i am just married 6 months back and am finding it very difficult to adjust to this new strict lifestyle.

we have to grt up early in the morning at 5.00 am take bath in cold water and fdo pooja and recite slokas . after bath we have to heavily oil our hair and tie it in plaitand roll the plait in bun and tie it with black ribbon .no other style allowed and she checks whether we have oiled our hair .then we have to make breakfast and work whole day .in he afternoon she makes one of us msssage her hair and check for lice and also we three we have to check each others heaad for lice .

most worrying part i heardher discussing was that she is going to tonsure all 3 of us.

please help we are scared any advice.

vaijayanti replied. yes it is finaally decided that our heads would be shaved on 8th we are all leaving on 6th and she has invited all our relatives for our tonsure. Radha replied. Vaijayanti, has your mil finally decided to shave your and your co-sisters' heads or not?
Do not be afraid. Your mil may be too strict for your liking. But in every hardship there is a silver lining. Come out of your biased thinking and think correctly on the following lines - does she do all these thing because she wants to be one up above you all or because she has a set mind of what is right and wrong. If it is the former it is bad and better you split up. But if it the second respect her for her sincerity but slowly educate her of what is right and wrong.
As for her design to tonsure the three of you, I feel there is nothing wrong in it. All the three of you should gladly accept it if done in a temple. It will be a really beautiful sight to see three d-i-ls living in a joint family simultaneously being bald. So, please go ahead and enjoy the tonsure. If she has not decided you can take the wind out of her plans by one of you yourself suggesting it.
