Hi everyone...I'm in my 21st week now. Just curious to know if anyone is going through this peculiar problem. Throughout my pregnancy I've had a terrible cold...in an a/c environment, I have a nasal congestion but when I'm out in heat (I'm from Delhi) I sneeze and sneeze and then I have a running nose. In a gap of 2-3 days, I also get a cough accompanied by phlem and this carries on for a couple of hours (maybe cuz I swallow the mucous and it gets collected in the lungs). I asked my doc if this could be happenning due to increased oestrogen level in the body to which she agreed. She has advised me to use Otrivin nasal drops but I read about it and it is contra-indicated in pregnancy. I don't want to argue too much with my gynae as they all tend to get upset very soon. Does anyone feel this and can you help me find a remedy ..maybe herbal or otherwise....Please help.... manvi replied. You may be suffering from allergies,since the symptoms have been for long&are continuing i suggest you resort to natural remedies.For nasal congestion try saline nasal drops-no side effects called NASOCLEAR in India.Try steam inhalation&you may need a non sedative anti allergy tablet.
Getting phlegm means u may need an antibiotic,sit down&discuss with your dr.
Meanwhile avoid too much A/C aggravates allergies!
Drink plenty of fluids&you can try munching tulsi leaves or boiling it in your water.
I know how u must be feeling as i just recovered from something similar.
