Hi,
Does any one had any techniques on weaning. I am trying to wean my 16 months old and it's too hard. She cries too much. Just today she cried for more than an hour and finally I had to feed her to put her to sleep. She doesn't take a nap or sleep without feeding. It's been so hard. If anyone had any ideas, please share with me.
Thanks in advance

i too am in exactly the same situation, my daughter is 14 months old. She doesn't accepts any other milk other than breast milk, did you manage to give her other milk, how did u do it, where do u stay or your mail id so that we can discuss in more detail. do reply
Mom replied. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. I will try all the techniques. I have stopped all the feedings except Nap time and Bed time and that's hard for her to give up. I am optimistic that the day would come when she doesn't want to breastfed.
Again Thank you very much
monisha replied. buy her her own sippy and make a fanfare with it. mix the milk with chocolate/ bournvita if she likes the taste, or banana or tea or whatever you think will turn her on. then in a NON FEED time, give her her quota of milk. continue breastfeeding till you (and she) will find she is too full to be sukling too much.
as long as she is full, well fed, with adequate nourshment, resisting makes them merely stubborn, so i have been told.
by the way, it took me nearly 2 months to wean- i had started the process when she was 10 months old, targetting her 1st birthday. we went 10 days beyond, but halleluya, we did it
taren replied. I have the same problem but mine takes some water in a bottle and solids help somewhat. Also, she takes the cup as well. One of these or more should help.
g replied. Dear Mom,
The experts say...Slowly, dont stop all at once. Try... Skipping a feeding and see what happens. Offer a cup or bottle of milk instead. You can use your own pumped milk as a substitute, formula, or cow's milk as your child is at least a year old. If you gradually reduce feedings one at a time, your child will have time to adjust to the changes. One mother who nursed and weaned two sons successfully, cut out a feeding every two or three weeks. She started when each child was 9 months old, and in four or five months, they were completely off the breast. Try cutting the length of time your child is actually on the breast. If she usually nurses for five minutes, try three. As she is 18 mths follow the feeding with a healthy snack such as unsweetened applesauce or a cup of milk or juice. Bedtime feedings may be more difficult to curb; they are usually the last to go.
Is there anything that may be going in you or your babies life that would make it harder, eg work, seperation, illness etc? Sooner or later it will happen, be patient!

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
