Due Date Club October 2003:Getting back to shape

Hi moms,

I'm from a different board. I just delivered a baby and I'm a first time mom. I have a question for you all. I hope you guys won't mind answering.

1. I was wondering HOW LONG it took for you guys to get back to normal shape. I mean getting onto your pre-preg jeans(is it possible or impossible???).

2. Did you all lose all the pounds you put during pregnancy or some of it is going to stay forever?

I think it is appropriate to ask experienced mom this question. Please answer.

Thanks for your help and love to your li'l ones,
Newmom

Hi Radhika,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I look at my pre pregnancy jeans n pants and wonder if I'd be able to wear them again. I was wondering if I should buy new clothes for my current shape. Anyways I really appreciate your reply.

Thanks and Enjoy your baby,
Newmom

Hi

The only difference between any person losing wt and a newly delivered mom is she has to wait for 6-8 weeks before u start exercising. Otherwise, its just individual's will to make it a priority. Finding time is the difficult part for a mom but i would say try to lose it after 2 months becoz generally we have parents around to help and u may find time...once kids start running, they will be whereever u r. :) but its ok they can join the fun..
yes u can lose the weight, but requires a lot of discipline and effort from ur side. Stretch marks and breast after feeding will leave thier mark..though i have seen married females with 3 kids absolutely fit some due to exercise and some just genetically lucky..
PErsonally have to still lose my 20 pounds. thinking of giving away my old jeans to sis..absolutely no time with work and home though if i did get up at 5am i still can squeeze half an hour. :) or maybe after 9pm..so its not that i cannot..just need more of mind set to do it. :)
Take care of urself for now..once baby is 2-3 months old u can think of doing some light exercises..while baby is asleep.
All the best..
RAdhika
