Waiting to try:Archie..Can i walk on the treadmill?
2006-08-30
Name: P

Hi Archie,
Thanks for the earlier reply. I did talk to my doc abt my travel and she gave me permission since it was only for 2 hrs. I am back from my vacation and i am doing fine.
I have not been doing any exercise aft i came to know i am pregnant. I wanted to know if i can use the treadmill to walk. I was going to the gym perior to this. I feel i am already putting on weight. Is that normal or is it cos of lack of exercise? I am abt 4 weeks pregnant now.
Thank you. Will be waiting for your reply.
Pooja

I checked with my doc abt treadmill, and she said that it should be ok as long as I dont exert myself too much. I have been walking in fresh air a couple of days and a couple of days inside the house (on treadmill) since then and have had no problems whatsoever. Only thing is I used to walk at 4 miles/hr before and after first trimester - I reduced it to 3 miles/hr and since 28th week or so, it is 2 miles/hr. Walk as long as you are comfortable..if you are not, then stop and rest. and you should be fine...I'm in my 37th week now and I stopped walking since last week since I felt too tired and uncomfortable..:)

it would be fair for you to walk in brisk air rather than on treadmill, unless someone accompany you while walking on machine.
Maintain low pace on machine if you must.

yes discontinuing exercise can make you gain weight in the beginning but won't continue all the time.
