Speech:Speech and language therapy. PUNE

This post is for my 5 1/2 year nephew who I believe has speech impediment. However before I even conclude that its impediment (for lack of right word) let me just briefly present his case and anyone has similar experience.

1. From his toddler days he was used to watching the development videos from US such as baby einsteins etc for longer periods (3-4 hrs a day)
2. He started his first words very late (around 4 yrs) and mixes the languages, switches between english, marathi and hindi at times spanish and french as well (becase of baby einstein DVD' s)
3. He repeats the words that you communicate with him and mixes the tenses with lots of grammatical mistakes in his speech.
4. Not at all talkative, Does not speak on his own and has to be spoken to.
7. Not very responsive to \" why, how, what\" questions and is introvert.
8. Does not report anything however he is very creative (spatial intelligence and drawings) and can memorize the lines from his DVD' s very well. Can re-enact the scenes for 20-30 mins.
9. Most importantly my sister is a single parent, not too sure not having his DAD around makes for a psycholgical impact.

I don' t think his problems are much to do with stamering or pronounciation. I believe its more to do with speech cognition, ability to formulate sentences and communicate (without being asked to).

We are aware that he is 5 1/2 year and its bit late already however we would now like to work on it very hard. Does anyone know a good speech therapist or someone in PUNE who has provided good therapy for these problems. WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE OR ADVICE SINCE MY SISTER IS REALLY WORRIED AND MISERABLE.

Thanks in advance.

Speech/language delay - 2.3 yr old boy
Hello Everyone

Our 28 months old boy is not speaking simple 2 or 3 word sentences yet. He speaks a few words such as mama, papa, aunty etc but definitely not more than 10. Also, he doesn't understand slightly longer sentences, even when we speak slowly and enact it such as "we'll go out after we eat". Otherwise, he appears perfectly normal. My son is less than 4 and has been diagnosed to be on the autism spectrum. He is non-verbal. We are taking him for OT and ABA/speech therapy.

Meanwhile, I read about an Ayurvedic hospital called Kerala Samajam hospital in Shoranur. Has anyone gone there for treatment? Any reviews?

Hints for Nursing
Babies eat and eat and eat. Although nature has done a pretty good job of providing you and your baby with the right equipment, in the beginning it's almost guaranteed to be harder than you expected. From sore nipples to tough latch-ons, nursing can seem overwhelming.
