radha,my family started looking for alliance only after 4 mnths and the grooms family saw me only after 6 months when i had a small ponytail and would had thought as the latest trend then.while marriage i had shoulder length hair.How about ur sister and in laws..are they married?How is ur life going?When u r palaning for ur next tonsure?

My sister got married three years after the family tonsure we got immediately after my marriage. By that time she had got mid-back length hair - about 20 inches. Six years later she got one more tonsure along with her husband and two kid daughters. She and her husband are planning their next headshave sometime next year.
When I got married my elder sil was just 21 and studying in final BA. She got married six months after my sister was married. She also had about the same hair length then - about mid back. As per her wish, she got mottaied a month after her marriage and her mil readily agreed for that. She is continuing the custom of her five yearly head shaves with her mil´ s support. She got shaved this April.
The other sil was 18 when I got married. Though she wanted to keep her hair a short boycut, my in-laws did not agree. So she grew it fully. But her hair does not grow beyond her shoulders. She again got shaved in the family mottai, five years after my marriage. A year later she got married with a nice bob cut - about 6 inches of hair. Her husband and m-i-l are short hair freaks. Her mil also has a bob cut always. My sil also wanted short hair. So, three months after her marriage, their family went to Tirupati and the four got tonsured - at my sil´ s insistence. Since then my sil keeps a boycut while her mil has returned to bob cut. My sil gets her head shaved every two or three years in Tirupati.
As for myself, we are continuing our tradition of family tonsure once in five years. Our next mottai - in-laws, husband, myself, my two sons (12 & 10) - will be two years hence.
And one thing. Every time I get tonsured, it is so refreshing that I will be eagerly waiting for the next one.
