Hi all... To start with, I' d like to mention how much I hate oiling my hair.. but it seems my close associates won' t ever understand my plight. The very first thing my mother does after having noon tea is to make me sit infront of her with a coconut oil bottle.. and then she massages my hair for about 45 minutes..my nice hair completely drenched with oil :( Then she checks for any nits or lice, combing hair and tying them into two plaits.. On Sundays, she shampoos my hair and then by noon, we catch up with the same routine.. Once in a while, barber comes to trim my hair and gives me a good 30 minutes massage. Please tell me if there' s a way to escape these hair oiling sessions. Or rather, encourage me to face this tough time with zeal.. Ms. WhytePatel replied. My mom is the typical Indian woman, the oil, trimmings and checking for lice...I would cry so bad..I am American born and luckily this wore off as I became older and she became more Americanized. Now on the flipside,my precious daughter, I never part and oil for hours in this way. I just use Blak Raksta DNA treatment...OOoohh my, it is such a great cream for her, she applies herself and then I do a simple braid..This cutts lice and protects hair from hot California sun. Tamil was out here and I spoke with her and she mention she uses it also...never tried it on my hair...just daughters but her hair grows healthy and shiny and I don' t even Henna!! Also don' t overwash...Depending on your environment, it is so dry here. Lice tend to like very dry hair, and it' s also not healthy for the hairs... bhanupriya replied. hi minisha,

i also face the same problem but only difference is at the hands of my mil ,

she makes our maid oil my hair daily and asks her to do lice combing and nit combing .

How old are you ? you are fortunate that your mother is caring so much for your hair. I have never heard of barber coming to house for trimming, hair oiling session - that' s the reason asking and assuming if you are school going girl.
