hi
i also faced the same prob right from my preg. my baby is 7 months now. what i did was i went to a colon surgeon or specialist and got it removed in the office itself. it takes only 10 to 15 mins to remove both internal and external ones. u will be sore for 3 to 4 days max but will be able to do ur normal chores. as for avoiding further occurence u can have have high fibre foods and lots of friuts and liquids. u sd be regular though.u can also take over the counter laxatives like collace to make u go regularly and without pain. if u r staying in the US this is the best treatment. but hemorhoids cant be treated permanently.

hope this will help u. trust me i am very happy now.

best of luck!
