I delivered a baby girl in July 2004. She is 6 months old and has been going to the day care from 2.5 months.I go to work only 3 days a week part time since i want to spend time and take care of my baby. Iam really worried that she is getting multiple ear infections and is continuously on antibiotics. Her ped said that she will have to have her tubes operated if she gets ear infections more than 6 times in 3 months.

Iam really worried about my little baby. Can anyone please suggest any way that we can prevent ear infections in future. I read some of the babies go to day care in this board. Please advise

My daughter has had ear infections becoz of cold u get from other kids. I personally don't think u should have tubes in kids..however there are folks who have had fewer ear infections.
I did find a product called xlear nasal spray that is known to prevent ear infections..not sure if it has stopped becoz she was 11 months when i started it or its the product..its just salt spray with a sugar called xylitol which prevents ear infections and helps reduce cold. u will find more info at their site xlear(.)com
Personally i know two of us whose kids have stopped getting any infections..but there are many others online. I Did ask doc ,since its herbal no one will object.
Other than that
1. Use the saline drops
2. Feed ur baby milk always in an upright posn. when they are lower with cold, ear gets blocked.
3.use the nose pump and always remove mucus from the nose regularly.
4. Plums are good for infections..
5. U can try honey and ginger later on after a year..till then if u are giving solids..add pinch of haldi/ginger helps.
ask doc if tylenol cold can be used /dimetapp.
i have tried all alternatives..best relief i have found from ear infections is xlear. absolutely free from any problem for past 3-4 months.
never visit doc now unless its scheduled.
use it 2-3 times a day even without cold..and how ever many times u need when u feel she will catch cold or has.
