Due Date Club July 2005:Hi all....Savir has ear infection
2006-11-11
Name: Smile
It all started with cold last monday. He had runny nose. Then he had slight temperature too. After 2 days, cold was gone but he started having dry cough. All of a sudden he had this red rashes on his body and trunk. That is when we called up his ped office. He was cranky for the past one week and his appetite has reduced. He refuses to eat anything solid, I give him soup, dhal. Says no to milk, probably he finds it difficult to drink. When I took him to his doc, he asked about his symptoms, and told that he is going throguh some kind of virus attack. It typically starts with strep throat, runny noses cough slight temperature and finally with rashes on their body( not in arms and legs). That is what happened with him. He checked his ears and said that he has some fluid in his right ear. He put him under antibiotics for 10 days. Yesterday and day before was horrible, he couldn't eat anything nor could he sleep. He doesn't know what he wants and finally he slept in his swing. It was horrible to see him go through this. This is the second time he is having ear infection. First time he got it when he was six months old. Just thought of sharing with you all.

Bhairavi replied. Hope Savir gets well soon.. Looks like all kids of this group are down with viral infections.. As Arti said, ear infections are soo common here, and poor kids have to go through soo much.
take care and love to liitle Savir,
Bhairavi.
Arti replied. Hi Smile,
Don't worry, ear infections are quite common amongst the kids and you should feel lucky that this is just the second time he has got this. Also in this weather viral infections are common too. Thats how kids immunity gets built up. He will be fine when he will start preschool as he might have already developed the immunity to the viruses he has been exposed now so hope to have an easy schooling for him as far as these infections goes.
Make sure that Savir either has yogurt or the active culture supplement so that his stomach doesn't gets upset. Also change his diapers as frequently as you could to prevent rashes.
You know I was sad about Arjun's story that talked to one of my husband's friend and came to know that their first kid had croup three times when he was young and daughter had 8 ear infections in an year's duration, they did the tube surgery after that got her adenoids and tonsils removed.
So some have gone through it, some are going through it and some will so have courage, patience, give lots of hugs to Savir along with his medication and he'll be fine.
Kids lose apetite when they are sick, just force to make him drink as much as possible whatever he likes, he is gonna make up for these once he recovers. take care.
Hetal replied. so this was the reason that came out finally...point no 6 of the post when you complained about his loss of apetite.....
but this isnt good to hear sudha,,,,would have loved to hear if it was only teething..
i hope he gets better soon..give him warm soups,,he will like it.avoid giving him ne ginger or hot stuff foods, because he is on antibiotics for ear infection..it might cause him stomach upset...see if he likes milk with some nesquick or some sugar or so...try offering him warm or so,,see if he likes it..if you dr suspects it to be some viral infection,,he might have asked for some test ?? didnt he ?
hp nothing is to worry about further..
keep us updated.all our lil toddlers are having a hard winter...
if it was not cold or fever for nirja,,as if somethng was to happn,,she might have pulled her earings and her earlobes were teared off,,..this accident hapnd when i left her alone for 5-10min at my visit to restroom !!! i gave her firstaid, stopped her bleedng and rushed her to dr,,she is ok now..
i expect her to recover in week and so does my dr..
feels so bad to give her motrin and prescrbd painkiller if motrin doesnt soothe her...this girl never had a single medicine since her birth, except for teethng,,and to give her this is heart wrenchng for me..the only good thing god has done is she lets me do her bandages without ne fuss.i hp she is out of this before next month...

Hi Sudha,
taking care of these babies is as it is difficult, taking care of them when they are sick is so tiresome. Esp when they are cranky and all, you need to hold them all the time. Gosh!!! I hope Savir feels better really quick. He must be uncomfortable too. Poor thing.
Sending out a lot of healthy vibes to Savir and you take care too.
Regds,
Sheetal

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

HI Gayathri,
I used the puzzles, the wooden blocks for alphabets and numbers.... - Sheetal [View Message]
try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
