Due Date Club April 2007:My u/s update

Hi All,
I had my fortnightly ultrasound scan yesterday and the news wasn' t too good. The baby hasn' t grown much in the past two weeks and is lagging behind by approximately 9 days on most parameters and by 3 weeks on the femur length. At 34 weeks and 4 days its est. weight is only 2.06 kilos (around 4.5 lbs). The doppler which measures the blood flow into various parts of the body are normal though and so is the fluid. My gynae has now told me to get NST done every second day (starting from today) and repeat the u/s next week. She says that she' ll be monitoring the baby very closely now on. If the next u/s shows that there is no growth or that the doppler is abnormal or the fluid is less then that would indicate that the baby has stopped growing and then the doc will take the decision to deliver. I am hoping and praying that everything will be ok in the next scan.
Saradha, this scan also showed that the cord is loosely around the baby' s neck. And my gynae said that it is not something she would be worried about at all because it is very common and most doctors have a lot of experience in delivering such babies both naturally as well as through c-section.

i know u r the one who has come across some many hurdles thru our ur pregnancy and with gods grace somehow managed to come to this level.

think that this is the next bottleneck - but dont get tensed da... u' ll successfully cross this hurdle also.

when is ur next scan due? b4 that take ample rest and hv fresh juices and iron and calcium rich foods. take spinach and all fibre rich nutritious food stuff.

Almighty definitely answer our prayers and see - in the next scan u r going to be fine.. by the time u will b completing 36 weeks too which id full-term.

so u can go for ur delivery anytime after that.

talk to ur lil one and tell him/her that he/she shd grow well b4 the next scan. the lil one will definitely listen to its mom. believe me.

hope to hear a good news u from u after ur next scan.

best wishes
saradha

im from the feb 06 board i was in a similar situation to yourself i had high bp from abt 18weeks and was on medication i also had regular scans and dopplers done to check the flow etc, what i wanted to say was that u have reached nearly 35 weeks which is gr8 for someone with very high bp and baby is also a good weight so if he/she wil be born now ur baby wil be safe with no problems. I delivered at 32weeks as my bp was getting out of control i had protein in urine n severe preeclempsia my lil girl is absoutely fine if u want u can check the feb 06 board n read my story.

take care keep calm n have faith ur baby wil be fine that is the most important thing.
