Due Date Club July 2005:home remedy for vomiting

Hi everyone,
Nikku is not well for the past 3 days. It started with vomiting, and the first day she vomited a lot. After that, her vomiting has decreased (like once a day), but with restricted diet. She is having less milk, and also eating less, as compared to what she used to have. As soon as she eats full stomach, she vomits. Also, she is having yellowish/greenish kind of potty (with a very bad odor) once a day. I was just wondering if there is any home remedy you all know for controlling vomiting.. Also what all foods shud I give her which she can digest.. I was thinking of waiting till tomorrow and going to the dr on Sat. Till then, any idea as to what cud be causing all this and how long this cud last.. Nikku is looking bit thin now..:(, however her activities are almost as usual..
Regards,
Bhairavi.

Hi Bhairavi,
My cousin usually gives pomegranate skin extract...To make this, u just have to boil the pomegranate skin & throw away the skin & add a bit of sugar to the remaining water.Give her whenever possible may be once in 1 hour if she is up to it.
The other thing that we can do is give lemon juice with elaichi.
The key is to keep her hydrated.
Hope this helps

thanks Hetal and Rashmi for your tips and recipies. Will definitely try those. Hetal, I have an appt with the dr for tommorrow. She was vomiting everything that I offered on the 1st day, but after that she is taking food and not vomiting (touch wood) with 1 vomiting a day.. So I didnt want to rush to the dr. Also, I have been giving her pedialyte to avoid dehydration since day one. I think she is having cough as I can hear it sometimes.. also she is getting a new tooth (though she never had these symptoms for her previous teeth). Anyways, I have an appt with the dr tomorrow, so will get things checked. And will give you all the updates..
Thanks again,
Bhairavi.

at first take an apt with your dr at earliest possible time !!

she is having yellowish green potty accmpnd by vomitng and is extrmly bad odor is sign of :
1.viral stomach flu/infection
2.food poisoning or infection.
3.indigestion and inflamation in stomach due to certain foods .
4. most people think that vomitting is controlled by stomach, but the area of your brain is actually in charge of throwing up,,and it might have happen if at all she had ne head injury, without your notice,,,unless dr physically checks her, your dr wont know the cause ! at home,, if you see her reflexes and sleeping hours--all to be normal and instant,,she is not having this prob.
5.over eating, severe internal cough and cold but its often with fever
6. could be sign of viral flu or fever !

some remedies and thngs to take care of :
1. ne blood in vomittng or stool,,save the diaper and let your dr see it.ne stool remains, show it to your dr so that he might directly send it to lab for testing !
2.ne feverr or so, check and note it down,,,let your dr see the temp variatns,,avoid givng ne medication except for keeping her fresh, after every episode of vomitng,,change her often, a lil sprinkle of baby cologne on her clothes will help her stay away frm vomtn feelng or nausea..
3.vomitng for more thn one day,,can cause severe dehydration,so give her sugar, salt, water or pedialyte or electrolyte solution/hydratng solution,,offer cool(not cold)...
4.let her drink lil amts of clear, fruit juices(not the orange juice or ne citrus fruits,,apple with bannana is great),you can offer sweetnd soups like mix vegie soup with jaggery in it,,offer more of natural sweetness though,,and avoid the spices,,spices irritate her throat passagess,,,they r already tender and sore due to repeatd throwups..,,
5.dont let her get overexcited in this condition..overstimulation migght make it worst ! let her do activities that settle her.esp after meals,,settle her,,and thn after 10-15min activities like jumping, runnig around should be allowd...after meals offer cool water..
6. offer ne liquid in cool(not cold) temperature..to soothe her throat passages,,instead of warm,,i know its winter but because of repeated vomitng her throat and passages might be sore, offer every 30mins...
7. keep the food going inside her stomach..nevermind if she throws up,,give her light food like khchdi, pulav, light curries(avoid ne spicy or onion garlic foods),,and offer light diet..avoid dairy and meats or even fibr...banana, rice, apple juice/shredded raw apple without skin and toasted bread with lil butter will help her recover better.in snacks, saltd or sweetnd crackrs are good.
8.if she is taking ne supplements, please stop it,it might worsn situation.ask your dr and thn only give.
9. offering fried or roasted(with vry lil ghee)cardamom seed,,and thn making pwder,, 2-3 pods of cardamom with 1 tsp of honey, 2times a day,,oftn helps to settle throwups..
also, mixing 1tsp of mint juice with 1tsp of orange juice and 1/2tsp of ginger juice alongwith tsp of honey often helps,,for children below 5 years, make the dosage to 1/4tprop should help..
after all this,,please take an apt with your dr and if pssble, take her to dr at earliest !

do share the updates ! hope she gets better..take care.dont worry she will be fine. check on her wght.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
