Miscarriage and Child Loss:Has anyone heard of this?

Has anyone heard of hcg levels dropping then increasing greatly?

I went to an insta-care on Monday. I had a positive pg test along with strep. I also have mini strokes and see a high-risk ob because I am on daily heparin injection (blood thinner). I went to do a lab on Tue. and my dr. also ordered an hcg level , because I was leaking liquid that had a slight brown tint to it. My levels were 397 at 4wk 3d

I went back to insta-care a few days later because my cold wasn't getting better. ( I live in a small town and all of my drs. are specialists that are 3hrs away.) I had bronchitis they rechecked my levels that were then 163. 4wk 5d the dr. told my I had a miscarriage they did an ultra sound and couldn't see anything.

My high risk ob gave me Misoprostol to speed the processes up. My mom was in town for the weekend so we thought it would be best if it happed when someone was advable to help me rather than going naturally by myself in the middle of the week.It didn't work I had a few cramps and a little spotting but was all old blood.

I went to an OB in my town and they redid my levels. They came back at 983 5wk 2d.

Has anyone heard of levels going down then going back up rapidly? My dr. said this is very rare he has never seen this before. He said there is a possibility the baby is still alive although he can't explain the hcg drop. And if the baby is not alive he can't explain the sudden increase.

My high risk ob is also doesn’t know what to think of this and said we would just have to wait to see if the hcg levels keep getting higher. They said I am too early to see any thing on an ultra sound.I don't know what to do.

I don't want to get my hopes up and have to go through this again, but it is so hard not to.

My dr. is going to have the levels checked again at 5wk 5d. This is going to be the longest 3 days of my life.

Sorry this was so long. If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated

4wk 3d hcg 397
4wk 5d hcg 163
5wk 2d hcg 952

Hi Jewlee,

I looked up your symptoms online and found some information. First of all remember I am not a doctor and can only give you the information I have read... You 'might' have a molar or an ectopic pregnancy given the way your hcg levels dropped and rose again. Apparently a persistant cough can be a sign of a molar pregnancy (how odd is that?)and your mention of bronchitis made me want to pass on this info... Here is the artical I referenced that from-> www(DOT)obgyn(DOT)net/women/articles/molarpreg_dah(DOT)htm

Before you get too upset I do want to add that I found a few posts on other sites from couples who went through something similar and had a very healthy baby in the end. Perhaps this is the case, even so you should try to stay strong until you have your next U/S and see what the doctors say when the results are in. No matter what remember that everyone here is happy to support you and offer you a friendly ear to talk to. Take care and stay smiling.

RE:Coping With a Miscarriage
Infertility is a very hard thing to hit a woman. I can't imagine what it must be like. My sister went through it. She was told that she was infertile by her doctor. Her husband was a doctor too, but besides all the knowledge they could do nothing. Then they tried going for IVF. At first they were resistant, they were double minded. But then my sister went to various fertil... - Lillian [View Message]

Hey Richa, hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear about it.I know what you have gone through. Toughest period is when one is TTC.The worst part is the miscarriages and 3 of them makes it even more hard to cope with. I agree with your husband and would advice you to take a break also.
