Due Date Club January 2007:Low Hb level
2006-11-22
Name: Avni

Hi everyone,

I am in 8th month right now (due on 11th Jan). My concern is dropping Hb level. In Aug, it was fine (around 12) but now it has dropped to 8.8. I have tried to include more proteins/iron in the diet, but nothing seems to work. Doctor has now put me on injectible iron (instead of iron capsules). Though people say some amount of drop in the Hb level is expected, but I am concerned that this amount of drop might be harmful. I get tired and breathless many times just walking for few minutes.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Please share.

Dear Avni

I would suggest you to have lots of oranges or orange juice or any other source of Vitamin C.

My Iron levels also dropped to some extent. My EDD is 8th Jan. So along with iron supplement my doctor recommended me to have Vitamin C as that helps in better absorption of iron in blood. Also do not take tea along with any meals or after 1 hr of having a meal as that is also not recommended.

All the best to you... Do take good care of urself.

Cheers!!!
Shelly

Avani,
feeling breathless is normal.
feeling tired is due to low HB.
you need supplement or injectibles to improve HB, it's going really down and one must be safe than running in any emergency.
