Waiting to try:irregular periods
2003-04-06
Name: rupa

hi there everybody, i'm a new member to this site and am impressed by the replies and advice that comes to every query. i have a problem which i would like to discuss too. i have irregular periods often. i have consulted the gynae and was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome(pco). i am newly married and am not yet trying for a kid but it seems with pco the chances of conceiving are very low and even if you conceive, the chances of a miscarriage are very high. naturally all this came as a big blow to me soon after my marriage. i am unable to cope with the situation and it is very difficult to accept the fact that i may be infertile. any of you there in a similar situation? anybody diagnosed with pco have you had kids? has it been easy? please help!

Hi Rupa,
Iam also getting irregular perioids lately.Sometimes it comes for 30 days & next month for 20 days.It has been like this for the past year only.Until then my periods were very regular like 28-30 days.I have been married for 3 years now & next year we are planning to try for kids.Your message really scared me.May be I am also having pco or something.

Can you please tell me you had any clues or symtoms how to know whether I have pco too? You have any stomach ache or internal bleeding or white dischare or anything which lead you to consult a gyn? As far as I am conserned I thought its ok for now & I would consult gyn next year. Please advice me.

Thank you very much in advance
regards

hi worried,
sorry for the late reply. but if u r having late periods i would say it is better to go for a check up. i have been having late periods since my teens, so i have always been trying to find the reason. earlier i was told that the problem is not very serious and due to hormonal imbalance. it was only after my marrige that they got an ultrasound done and diagnosed the problem. another symptom is if you have a tendency towards gaining weight or if you have a lot of hair in your hands and legs. but these r not necessary, irregular periods is a more sure shot symptom. there is no cure for this but there are remote chances for conceiving. hope the best for you.i would like to know if anybody diagnosed with this priblem did have a baby, it would be very reassuring.
regards,
rupa
