hello,
Since the summer is approaching, this time, I have a strong feeling to cut my hair very very short especially at the sides and back to beat the heat. However, I also get bogged down if I want to implement it.not sure why (.may be the reaction of people around me ). I just need some opinion based on which I am going to dare. If I were to dare, how short is short to be done using scissors? the reason for posting this question in th is alias is that I see some short hairstyle questions and comments. I hope some answers would come and wouldn' t disppoint.

Dear Rajesh,
You can see some of my previous postings. My husband keeps a crew cut and we are all happy with it.
I feel that ' short hair' for men means short enough to require no combing for about a month. And to keep cool, the back and sides are to be clippered close. So I suggest you go for ' high and tight' or ' military cut' or ' crew cut' . Get the back and sides clippered bald to about an inch or so above the ears and the top scissored to about half an inch. If properly done it will look superb and feel superb.
If you worry too much about what others say on such temporary things such as a haircut, you will not be able to do anything you feel like.

See my postings in the topic raised by Sanju (16-06-2008) and in the topic raised by Sanjana (18-07-2008).
And you wonder ´ why a lady would encourage such cut on her husband´ . Why ever not? There is beauty in the eye of the beholder. And I find my husband handsome and attractive with a crew cut. And he also feels good with short hair with nicely clippered back and sides. And so there is nothing to wonder about.
The stylist did not suggest the cut to my husband. It was his own choice and we (I, his parents) supported him fully.

If it´ s not trouble for you (to repeat) , you can reply, otherwise you can ignore ... getting the back clippered to just an inch above neck is not short enough, right ? I hope you meant clippering the back also. I am just wondering why a lady would encourage such cut on her husband. If it´ s for school kid, it´ s understandable. Did your husband got it cut in a posh parlour where the stylist suggested that for a change ? how short your husband got cut. again if you feel it´ s repeat of you answering , you can ignore...
