Due Date Club July 2005:What to take on India trip

We are going to India in next couple of months- this is the first time we'll be flying with Arjun and I am very scared about how its going to turn out.
We have booked a seat for him on the flight.
I am preparing a list for what all I need to carry.
Priya, I know you have travelled to UK couple of times and Sweety, Anitha you have been to India so please suggest what is indispensable on these trips.
I am also going to travel alone from my in-laws place to my parents place and we have planned a couple of other long trips too. I was wondering what all precuations I need to take on my vacation.
I am thinking of buying a sleep sack and wondering from where I could buy that for a toddler or would I blanket be sufficient for Arjun to sleep in the plane. Also can any of you recommend any cordless bottle warmer which i can use on the flight and when I travel within India?

Should I take an umbrella stroller? or a baby bjourn?

What else? please suggest.

Hi there,
We travelled to India when Savir was 10 months old.
Here is the list of things I found useful.
I took diapers, baby food. These 2 things are very expensive in Inidia. Tylenol
Pedialyte
Nasal spray
Nasal syringe
Wipes
Baby vicks
I bought feeding bottle which had disposable bottle liners, playtex is good. you don't have to worry about sterlizing the bottle, just have to sterlize the nipples.
Make sure that you give him only purified boiled water.
You can take umbrella stroller, I didn't take, we took turns and carried him. It is better to take a stroller, it will be useful in airports. Regarding bottle warmer, I don't think it is a good idea, Once we bought car bottle warmer, it takes a long time to warm. I don't know about cordless bottle warmer. If at all I want to heat milk, I keep the bottle(with milk) in hot water. Anyway, if you have started regular milk for Arjun, make sure that u boil milk and give there. Here it is not necessary to boil. They give blankets in plane. If at all u need extra blanket u can ask them. One more thing I took was pack and play crib, which is foldable. I used to put Savir in that. The good thing about this is he didn't get rid of the habit of sleeping in the crib after we got back. One more thing is booster seat. It is also foldable, I used to feed him in that. Thatz all I guess.
Good luck and have a wonderul trip.

Hi Smile, thanks for sharing the useful information. Arjun doesn't like bottle. He drinks his milk from his sippy cup so bottle liners wouldn't work for me. I was thinking of getting the use and throw sippy cups for the journey.
Arjun is on cow's milk but I have heard that kids from here won't be able to digest milk in India sometimes and it could cause allergic recation or can act as laxative so I was thinking of carrying the milk powder instead. How did Savid do there? Was he walking when you went to India?

Arjun is not well - down with fever and cold so I am at home since last three days and utilizing my time to plan for India trip when he naps.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
