Ayush has been having fever and the doc said its ear infection.Since
his regular doc wasn't there I am not very happy with the other doc I
went to.He prescribed antibiotics but since it is not very severe
just don't want to give him medicines right now and let his body
deal with it and today he is fine.


Did anyone's baby have a ear infection?What did u all do?
And daycare mothers how do u deal with the fact that babies get more
sick easily being around babies.Its like Ayush is sick every month
and sometimes every week.I cannot afford to take so many leaves (my
boss has started being not very nice about it !! ) and daycare won't
keep sick babies.
I have just started to realize the hardships of being a working
mother ,its not an easy job.

I would give antibiotics right away. have a cousin who is pediatrician in chicago..was hesitant the first time too..she said antibiotics are most safest medicine u can give for an infant..over the counter medicines or anything else is dangerous.
Yes when i day care they do catch cold/infections faster..u have to deal with it.
Don't understand why your day care won't take little kids with ear infection? if so he wouldn't have got it from other kids either. My day care lady takes extra care with ear infections, even lets me know when she think she is going to catch cold or infection if someone else has it, what to watch for..think u should reconsider and select a more caring day care if u can.
U don't have to keep them home during ear infection..unless they have high temperature. Normal ear infection babies do fine. may be fussy with actual taste of medicine but ask drug guy to add fruit flavor in it.
Anu has had twice, but not been a problem yet. She hates the taste but if its nto the strawberry flavor i mix with fruit/milk and give her when she is really hungry.
But love her day care ladies for the cre they take of her. even i wouldn't know as much as they do, and they have been more like a senior mom helping me out. Anu adores them too. gets very excited seeing them..day care people should help if not i would try to change if i can or ask a friend to take care if she can.
With anu, tips i can give is
1) warm food helped sometimes they lose taste to medicines.
2) raise them to feed milk.
3) give tylenol if they have fever (gen.antibiotics help in all ways)
4) atleast once a while put oil in babies ears to prevent wax build up

anitbiotics is the only way to solve ear infection..not giving it will increase the infection.
Take care..and don't worry. Both u and hubby can take turns if ayush is reall fussy at day care in taking days off.hope u have time this long weekend.
