Routine Tests:Diabetes

Hi All

This board has been really very helpful. I would really appreciate answers to my following question/(s)

I am 12 weeks pregnant with pre-gestational diabetes. I am working with a team of perinatalogist and Diabetic nurses to monitor my blood sugars.I am on Metformin 500 mg, 3 times a day and Most of the time my blood sugars are in the target range(90-120) but there are times when it has gone up to 170-180.

Do you think it would have affected my baby? Before pregnancy my HbA1C was 6.1 which is good.

I am starting Insulin from tomorrow.

PLease let me know about ur personal experiences or if you have heard abt some successful diabetic pregnancies.

Look forward to your answers.

Thanks in advance

Hi Nancy
I have been through all this and can truly understand your concerns.
Dint worry and be happy controll your diet and excercise. These are the things you can do for the best of your baby. I have done the same and now i am a proud mom of sweet little girl.
I was on a very high insulin tll last day. Tension and concerns used to increase my sugar level. So be happy and enjoy your pregnancy

Hi Happy Mom
Thanks for your encouragement. Could you please tell me if your numbers were high. I am so happy for you. I will think positively but if you hsare with me some of the worst numbers you have had and when you started Insulin , It would really help.
