Hi Archie & hopinfortejas,

I visited my doc yday and told her abt no ovulation. she gave me 150 mg clomid and also some tablet to start my period. i asked her why is she not doing ultrasound to chk if any cysts has been formed due to previous months of clomid..so she said no need for ultrasound i will chk and see. so she did a vaginal examine with her hand and said there r no cycts (i was a bit surprised at this...how can she tell without a ultra sound)

she also asked me to use opk for 2 weeks instead of one for this cycle of clomid...

i again askd her abt ultrasound when taking clomid and she said not this cycle but if this cycle also fails then next we will monitor by ultrasound...

during my last visits she had asked me to do a lot of blood work and all that came back normal,..she said they did not find any antibodies, protien levels were normal..

so i am going to try this one last cycle on 150 mg clomid and if it fails then will go in for endogronologist...

Archie, pls let me know your comments...

Dear Neha,
Your Dr. can figure out some of the cysts by internal check up no need to get surprised.

The 150mg dose is perhaps high and you will not be taking all together clomis longer than 6 cycles, regardless if you started with 50 or 150 mg.

I think since your body is not responding to clomid even at 100mg I would be curious to know if the 150 makes any difference, on that line checking with OPK for 2 weeks is fairly acceptable thought.

I don't know why but your Dr. might have reasons to avoid to get into series of ultrasound. I know in many cases ultrasound helps to track ovulation progress but same time it also adds on anxiety and tension in patient who has been pertinantly failed to conceive. The anxiety is not a good thing.

You are probably prescribed with progesterone to induce periods if you have not had ovulation.

you should be happy that tests performed came back normal. I don't which tests were done but an reproductive endocrinologists intervention is must should you fail to ovulate even here.

personally I believe if you have serious degree of PCOS then you might need glucophage and clomid together to hit success but again without knowing your body hormones it's impossible to comment on.

take things easy and enjoy the cycle without hoping too much. This will reduce your inherent stress and probably help maintaining hormonal balance.

Thanks Archie & Hopingfortejas for replying ....I am glad that all the tests are normal so dont have to worry on that front....you know everytime on day or 11 i start doing the opk and then when i dont see the positive line by day 14 i get really upset and feel let down....this cycle i am going to not do that to myself....Thanks again girls for all your imputs.... I guess abt the ultrasound maybe each doctor has his or her own way of treating paitients and and I not going to question her for this month atleast....if this cycle fails to then I will start looking for a endo...Thanks again for replying it means a lot.....

Hi Neha,

it is indeed strange that your doc wants to put you on clomid 150mg and not do u/s ...personally i dont like the sound of it ....

i do not want to scare you ..but just want to tell you the facts... clomid is not good for the overall health and can cause ovarian cancer ..also docs generally do not prefer to put you on more than 6 cycles of clomid ...and 150 is a pretty high dose ..Archie, correct me if i am wrong ...

also , try to find out whether your estrogen, prolactin , male hormones were checked ..also it is agood idea to get your thyroid checked ...
also , it might be a good idea to get your husband's sperm count checked ..

one important thing is clomid thins the uterine walls and reduces the mucus ..so generally docs put you also on estradiol (estrogen supplement) from CD 9-14(after the clomid dosage is over)

in the luteal phase ..around CD 20-22, it might be agood idea to test your progesterone to see if you have ovulated ..

guess the tablet she has given you might be progesterone supplement since you get ur periods after having it for 10 days .. i have been on many of those doses ...

good luck,
hope this month is your month ... :)
