Due Date Club April 2007:my update

Hi All,
Sorry for being so silent for a long time. Have been having minor problems because of high bp. Last week my doc decided that as soon as I complete 32 weeks she' d like to give me a dose of steroid injections to mature the baby' s lungs in case it decides to come early. I was to be admitted to the hospital on monday for this as I have GD and the steroid injections make the sugar levels go really high and need to be monitored constantly. But on sat I was getting some vague pain in the right side and some heavier discharge, the doc decided to admit me immediately. By the time I reached the hospital, I was getting contractions. At first they were about 5 in half an hour but later they became less and less and stopped. The doc thought that it might be due to urinary infection, that could have irritated my uterus. Any way, I had the first injection on sunday morning and along with sugar and bp monitoring they also did NST twice a day. It is really reassuring to hear the baby' s heartbeat and its movements. I think I could spend the whole day just listening to the baby' s heartbear. I had contractions again on monday but by evening my culture report had come confirming sensitivity so I am now on anti-biotics. They also did an u/s while I was there and it was the first time I saw the baby' s face and it waved its fists and made movements with its lips. The baby is fine and is estimated to weigh 1.9 kgs (around 4.2 pounds). The other good news is that my blood clot has become very small and there is no fresh bleeding.
The doc says that after 34 weeks we are in the safe zone and there will be little to worry even if the baby has to come out early. So, another one week to go. I see my doc every alternate day and she says that after 35-36 weeks she will evaluate whether I might need an elective c-section or not.
I am still hoping that this will be an April baby and not March so wish me luck!
