Hi there all....
Hope that everybody is doing fine... And all of them with the GD proble, have got good ctrl over the sugar level.... I was told by the Doc to have 3 meals + 3 snacks...... But I dont usually have the snacks..... I was just wondering that, do U people have something after the meals? Cos...I am told to test the blood 2 hrs after the meals..... So after the meal do U stop eating till the test or in between do U have the snacks.... And what snacks do U usually have... Am in a fix.. .Do help me with this....Waiting for an early reply from all of U there....

Hey Shannu,

You asked me about daal, well even dal,chana,rajma have got carbs. So even that is counted as part of your total carbs. It is so sad. I love to drink daal but I have cut it down to 1/2 cup when I have some other veg. with it.
Even milk and yogurt is counted as carbs.
If you are non veg you can eat checken and mean as they have less carbs and more proteins. Eat eggs and tofu for proteins.

It is such a problem. Even basic food you cannot eat. I can control sweets but when you have to starve it is a punishment.
Where are you from? How many times have u been asked to check?

Good to C Ur message..... So whats up with U....Thnx for the info reg Daal..... I am not that fond of Daal... But I have noticed that whenever I do have daal... My sugar level shoots up.... So I avoid most of the times..... Am a non veggie....
Rt now am into only eggs and chappathi mainly..... What I do is I cook any leafy vegetable and add a egg to it...... Then I use Yogurt 2 times a day...... Not much....Just a little so that it will cool the body..... It has not yet effected my sugar level....
Even I am fed up of this diet that we have to follow... I am told to check the Sugar level 3 times a day..... Initially I was very scared.... But now am used to it... But things R not that easy.... I am counting the days so that we pass thru this phase of life successfully....
Am from USA NJ.... Where R U from? Do mail me in detail... Bye for now

Hi Shannu,

I am bearing with GD since past few months as mine was detected much earlier. I am due on 20th Feb.
I take 3 meals and 3 snacks too. I don't eat anything for atleast 2 hours after each meal. You can eat white rice too but about 2/3rd cup - 1 cup max.
For snacks I take fruit or milk or anything upto 2 servings of carbs that's upto 30 grams. You can have a sandwich. Eggs are good as they have lots of proteins and no carbs.
If you need any other sugg. please do ask.

Does your sugar shoot sometimes. Mine does. If I eat little more in a meal it shoots. What to do, how much to control& eat.

Hi there....
First of all Thnx for having mailed me.... I have been on the look out for a reply since a long time...Seems like all the Moms R real busy..... Vidya also mailed me back with Quite some Info that was helpful.....
Now coming to the GD problem..... I will try out the ways of food eating habits that U have mentioned..... There is this same Problem with me too... When I eat more... The sugar level shoots up:-(. But at times... I dont bother and I eat..... (Out of ctrl).....Kya karen Ctrl nahi hota:-))
Another doubt that I have is ...Is it Okay to eat Daal? I cant eat fruits...cos it really rises my sugar level.... But I do want to eat atleast one fruit a day... Its really bothering me whether it will B fine for the growth of the Kid if we follow this diet???? Do mail keep updating me in case U get to know abt new things.....

I wont be of much help to you right now but just wanted to write to you not to worry until other moms reply to your msg ! I've still not met my doc(appnt. next week only) and donno how serious my GD is !(heard only from the nurse who was v busy the day i got results)I finally got this brown rice and its not bad yah! tastes ok when made as tomato rice.I guess u can try making some fried rice or something with little olive oil ..heard tofu is good...also brocolli..check this website(www(dot)bawarchi(dot)com(slash)contribution(slash)soya.html) for tofu recipes and add lot of veggis with them...this has indian recipes..
in case u try it and or any other food which reduces your blood sugar level do let me know...
drink lot of water too...
I hope u are using only olive oil !! its supposed to be a v good one..

Abt myself....I have completely cut down on Rice and I take chappathis instead(2 in number). Finding it hard to adjust to this new Diet....... But cant do anything else.... But face it....
