Due Date Club January 2007:Periods like pain with lower backpain
2006-11-13
Name: Anu

Hi All,

I have been suffering with persistent lower back pain since 3-4 days. Today morning had some menstrual periods kind of pain for about some 3-4 mins in lower abdomen. I am wondering what could be the reason for this !!!

I am 30 Weeks 2 Days pregnant as of today.I had my color Doppler done last Thursday (4 days back) & everything was normal then except for the Amniotic fluid reading as 10.7 cm. Dr has recommended me Arg-9 thrice a day for a month & asked me to drink lot of fluids.

I heard something like Braxton contractions from some friend. Is this periods like pain that only ?? Can some1 tell me more about this ?

Thanks much & Regards,
~ Anu

Anu,

I was at 9cms and my AFI levels now read 16 cms. Have plenty of water, take bed rest and lots of sprouts is a MUST. Sprouts and BIOVIT with milk improves your AFI levels ... but bed rest is a must.

Luv,

GRaj

Anu,
it's more than Braxton Hicks contractions.
I think this is because of your AFI which is on lower side.
I recommend full bed rest and 10-12 glasses of fluids per day.
Have a sonogram after a week course of Arg-9.

do not walk or do not do any work. Have this concerned placed to your OB. persistent dull lower back pain can be a preterm labor sign. I want you to confirm all from your Dr. immediately than wasting time.

Archie

Subject:  One more Question .. (Thanks Archie & Maya)

Thanks very much for the suggestion Archie. Am a software engineer and have about 8-10 hrs of sitting work before monitor :-( I have taken a 5 days off as of now to take good rest as you suggested.

My Dr doesnt seem to be much concerned about the backache & has recommended Volini Gel for external application on lower back and asked me to continue with
Arg-9 thrice a day with good fluid intake.

Archie, Whats this Arg-9 for ?? Is it for increasing amniotic fluid level ??
I am also taking about 12 glasses of water per day as you recommended. Any other means to increase AFI ??

btw,How are Advait and Ayush doing ?? Take good care of ur health too.

Love & Regards,
Anu

Hi Manvi,
What you are experiencing is called as BHC and very common after onset of the 8th month. I felt them so often during my first pregnancy that twice we rushed to the hospital as we thought that labour had started. Sometimes they are so strong that you will not be able to move either. So relax as your body mainly uterus is getting prepared for the natural labour. But I felt them on the lower side of the abdomen with no back pain.

This much only i can tell,
Take care ,
Maya
